Suspension Mods

I am considering doing some suspension mods, but I wanted to get some input from everyone to see what kind of pitfalls to avoid. I would like to lower my truck a little to get better handling - nothing radical, maybe just 2-3" up front and 3-4" rear. Closer to a Lightning in ride height (if they would just make that in an extended cab I wouldn't have to mess with this truck at all...). I don't do any towing, and I do very little hauling, mostly just driving around town and I would like a little more performance oriented ride. In addition to lowering, I am thinking about going with new Bilstein's all around. Any suggestions and info from people who have done this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
