Front End Vibration

I have a 2006 F-150. It has stock clad rims. I have had 4 sets of tires, and still get a streeing wheel vibration at 70. It has the stock tire size, 235/70/17.

What else could it be other than tire balance issue?? I have had these tires balanced about 11 times. What other front end issue is there with these trucks.

Also I just had both lower ball joints, and two new struts replaced??

Have you had the hubs or the IWE's checked out.

some items to check

How many miles on the truck? four wheel drive? Did you purchase it new? Was it ever in an accident? Is the vibration at a certain speed?

Check:
1) Front end alignment
2) Does the vibration change a little if you swap the front tires/rims to the back? (I've seen many bad rims that are out of round but balance great)
3) Drive shaft may need balancing
4) Upper control arms?
5) tie rod ends (both inner and outer)

What would cause the drive shaft to get of of balance?? I have 4 new steel rims, I am going to try changing out the rims. It has happened with many sets of tires, that is why I am ruling out a tire issue?? I am getting ready to take it to the local Ford dealership, and tell them to keep it until they find the problem.

Drive shaft

Ford has had issues with drive shafts and rear Diff clutch packs causing vibration problems. do a web search.

Can you answer the other question posted?

Bad wheel bearing that has some play in it possibly? That's all I can think of to add to scooterdog's list.

i have the same exact problem!! its driving me crazy! same speed and did everything you have done. its not the rims and tires. i believe its the brakes (caliper getting stuck and input from others on this forum) due to the rainy day here in NJ. i cant check them. just this week, my observation so far has been its there really bad one day and not so bad the next. also i noticed that when its bad i can slow the truck down and speed up to little or no vibration, sometimes. i had my IWE changed 2 months ago and that never fixed it. i am going to re-grease the slides on my calipers ( i am a clean freak and have been useing castrol super clean to clean my rims, i know bad idea!) and hope that fixes it.

What is a IWE??

Also, do you think it it were your caliper sticking, that you would wear your pads out, and you would smell something??

integrated wheel end i believe. its a solenoid that is located on your firewall behind your battery that causes vacuum to disengage your trucks hubs out of 4 wheel drive. when it goes your front axle tries to slip into 4 wheel drive causing a loud grinding noise, not a vibration. but maybe the down fall of this happening is a vibration from your hubs. but this problem for me happened way after i changed my IWE. as far as my calipers, i dont think it sticks closed but just enough to not open all the way. to be honest its a cheap fix and just another fix to cross of the list. its been a long list. this problem is questioned all over the site but no exact fix. most turn into a trade in and thats no option for me.

Thanks. Mine is a 2 wheel drive. I think I am going to take it to the local dealership, and tell them to keep it until it is corrected....
