Level or Bilstien

I have just ordered my Bilstien stuts and shocks.
Should I remove my 2.5 leveling kit and and just go with the Bilstiens?

I'd just crank the bilsteins and then just try to sell the spacer to get some money back.

I ordered the 5100's. They are going on my 2005 SCREW 4x4. I have 35's on it.

Its really the same either way. I have those shocks with a leveling kit on top. Shocks set at stock height. Before that I had them at the 2" height. I had to have it lowered back down for an unrelated issue, so after that I just put the leveling kit back on. The advantage of having the leveling kit installed, is that if you even need/want to go back to stock height, you can do it yourself vs. having a shop do it for you.

Thanks for all the help. Guess I will leave the blocks in and set the stuts to 0.

Thank you

I think that is a mistake. Sell the blocks, and adjust height with the 5100's.

Have you read the Bilstein theory on what the advantages are on the 5100's over blocks. Some will call it propaganda, and it might be in some way or another. Go to their site, read about them, and decide for yourself. I think putting blocks on top of 5100's is counter productive, and not a bright move.

X2.

I just removed a 2.5" level to go with the 5100s. I set mine on the 3rd notch (approx 1.75" of level) and the ride quality is no comparison. The CV angles with the 2.5" level where junk, and mine are almost stock looking now. Can say for sure if the ride quality would be improved with the a 0 setting on a 2.5" level, but I beleive you will be quite a bit happier running the 5100s in the manor in which they were intended. Running a 35" tire, just place them on 4 and be happy.

you paid for the 5100's so you could level them so i would do so.

all you have to do is spend 30 minutes going some where for them to remove the strut and set it back to 0 and re-install. it's not that much more work and is a good point to take a break and relax anyhow.

The bilsteins improve the angles of the uca and the gap between them and the spring. I had a HBS 2.5 level and my uca hit my coils, I switched to the 5100s without sacrificing height and they improved the ride. First pic is the lack of gap on the spacer and second is with the 5100s

both are full droop, even with the weight of the truck there was minimal clearance with the spacers. Lift it with the 5100s and sell the spacers. Just my opinion.

technically you did sacrifice height, you went from 2.5" to 2". dropping 1/2" does improve your angles.

Technically when i measured the truck with a tape measure I sacrificed less than a 1/8 of an inch on the passenger side and an 1/8 on the driver. The height gain from the blocks actually dropped after it was aligned and was not 2 1/2.

I think it was Isaac Newton that said "Geometrys a mother (insert explative)"

Definitely get rid of the leveling kit man. Returning the suspension geometry closer to stock will improve your ride quality.....which is what you're paying for.

This is the exact reason I'm selling my level and going with a rancho quicklift.

Decision made!

Going to remove to block!!!! Run on the Bilstiens. Hopefully the 1/2 inch loss won't make a difference with running 35 inch tires.

Again thanks for all the help.
