Shock swap?
Shock swap?
I bought my truck used and as far I as I can tell...the stock shocks are original. I have about 53k on them. can't tell if they are beat though. On the highway, whenever I hit any kind of bump in the road on a bend...the back end gets all squirrly and kicks to the outside. Maybe they are beat. I know a lot of you get the Eidlbrock IS. Is this the only way to go. Would like any info. on other brands just for comparison? Also is there a model # or can you just ask for Eidlebrock IS when ordering?
Sorry about the typo's...it should read "Edelbrock IAS?" My truck has no lift kit but I saw in the online "store" there is a 4 1/2" version. Is for lifted trucks or will it add anything to my stock height?
Rancho RSX
2winturbo,
I just installed Rancho RSXs on my 2000 4 x 4 sport last night. The handling is greatly improved!! I only had 24,000 miles on the factore HD shocks and they were starting to get mushy already. After the install no more brake dive and body roll is virtually non-existent. It feels like a sports car by comparison to the old shocks. The ride is firm, but not harsh. The Ranchos use design concepts similar to the IAS and are ALOT cheaper. I got them from truckperformance.com for about $42 each.

I think my shocks are already softer, and I've only got 700 miles on my truck. I'm putting Rancho 9000's on my wife's Montero this weekend(w/ the in-cab adjuster). I'll see how they work out and maybe get some for my truck also.
