About to put on 6 inch fabtech kit
I have a 2006 4X4 f150, and I'm hoping to start putting on a 6 inch fabtech kit with dirt logic coil overs and performance rear shocks next week. I was just wondering if anybody has experience with this kit and may have any pointers, suggestions, anything I need to pay attention to, or any other comments. Me and a few of my friends are going to do it ourselves. Thanks
If either of you have any mechanical skills you should be just fine! My brother and I did this lift, same year truck and with Dirt logics front and rear, and we finished the install in a weekend taking our time!
Go slow, be safe and have fun with it! You wont be disappointed with this lift!
I hope this helped some.
Cheers

a welder comes in handy
when my friend and I installed my 6" skyjacker we had to cut the u bolts to tighten them all the way(didnt have a deep enough socket) and it would have taken forever if not for the welder. we did it in about 6 hours, including lower ball joints and alignment

If for any reason the kit you recieved gave you the short ones, just call Fabtech and let them know your year of your truck and they will send out the longer ones free of charge!
Hope that helped

I did my 6" procomp myself. Im like you just basic mechanic stuff. leveling kits and junk. It indeed is a big project. dont expect to fly through it. I know i didnt.mainly because i was pretty cautious and nervous about rippng my truck apart. I would recommend having some sort of brake line handy. I wished i would have bought one for mine. I got my lines to drop enough, but it would have looked nicer if I would have had an extended brake line kit or something like that. Just something to look into.... Also figure out which tools you are going to use specifically before you start. that will save you a lot of time, (sizes and such and have them laid out) Good luck its not too hard.
You should be fine! One thing I'd look into first thing when you get all the parts laid out, are the Impact struts. I don't have the exact length, but I do remember with your year of truck you will want the Longer ones!

I did mine about a month back and it went pretty smooth. Brake lines kind of made me nervous just because you have to pull on them pretty good. Since you have done all that other stuff you will have no problem with the lift. If you have any questions at all just shoot me a PM.
They are the long tubular bars that run from the rear fabtec crossmember to the factory crossmember rear of it. The length should not matter. If they are the short ones you install them on the front side of the rear crossmember. If they are longer than you install them on the bottom. You have to drill the holes either way.

Mossyoak3006, Im doing this kit now. Worked on it Thursday. The only thing I saw I would have done different... We are using a lift and placed the front two arms in the exact location the impact strut bracket needs to be bolted. The plan for us is to finish the front except that, sit the truck down on it tires long enough to move the arms back 6". Everything else on the kit is straight forward. We did use a plasma cutter to modify the rear crossmember, but could have easily just used a cut off wheel... My post is the 8" and 37". I found the gear swap to be the hold up for me... Should have pics up soon.
Good luck and go slow.

I've got a grinder. Would a cutoff wheel on that work better than a reciprocating saw?
I have a 6" fabtech with 2 inch spacer (8" all the way around) and no brake lines needed to be extended at all. You will need to cut some of the lower crossmember too. Other than that its pretty straight forward but expect it to take the weekend and expect to run into hangups, great kit overall for the money.
