what size/brand shocks?

getting real close to ordering my 6.5" springtech lift for my 02 2wd... But i heard from a couple peeps the shocks that come with the kit suck. I was looking at the standard(blue/yellow) bilstine shocks to go with this kit but have absolutly no idea what size i need for this size lift. Can any one help? I was also wondering if any one has seen the new general grabbers in a 305-70-16 (or know if there going to produce that size).

Thanks guys!

Bilstein 5100's are about the best ones you can get, but the bilstein hd's are great shocks as well. Whatever shocks you get make sure your order them for a 3" lift. I have that same lift kit and I cheaped out for now and went with RCX Nitro 9000's. They are a pretty good shock for the price I paid ($35 a piece). They feel 10x better than the monroes I had before, but there are still way better ones out there.

Funny how you made the HD sound like an inferior shock to the 5100, when it's the exact same shock. Only difference between the two is the color and the 5100 is for lifted applications. Other than that, their identical; fluid, valving, construction, etc.

Why do you plan on running 33's on that lift? They are going to look kind of small.

spring tech suggests that you run that tire for proprer clearance and i thought that 35s might look a little tight in the wheel well. 35s look great on your truck but you have a 3body lift as well im really confused on what will fit and what wont.

You can look at the pics in my gallery to see what it looks like with 35's and the springtech. 33's will look a little small, but you might have minor rubbing with 35's at full lock. Its a give or take kinda thing. Oh and the bilstein 5100's for the 3 to 6" lift is what I'm running with mine, they're a 1000x better than the ones that come with it.

given the 35's look awsome but I think the 33's are more up my alley no rubbing sounds pretty good and they still look great. I have decided to go with the 305 70 16 goodyear duratracs since General will not be making a new grabber in that size

If you go with an 8" wide wheel you won't have any rubbing with the 35's. Most of the people that get rubbing with that lift are usually running 10" wide.

I have it with a 16x8 wheel with 4.5" of backspacing, but its only on the passenger side with it locked in reverse that i can feel the rub.
