UCA options?

Anyone know of any other options besides Cambridge or total chaos? I have the moogs on right now but with my lift setup I only realistically have about a year on regular ball joints..thinking I need uniball setup but 600 bucks seems steep.

2004 FX4 with 6 inch pro comp, 5100s with leveling kit running 37s

Thanks

I'm getting more and more interested in the Cambridge UCAs...I have 4.52 backspace and aalso a wheel spacer so I should have plenty of room right? Would love to find a used pair but might just have to bite the bullet and go new. Sick and tired of worrying about my UCAs failing or creating along kinds of racket.

*Camburg. And yeah those are basically your only options. Also you are running adjustable 5100's and a leveling kit? This is probably why your are blowing through ball joints.

I looked at TC and Camburg, and it appears that Camburg's UCA extends out further from the coil compared to the stock uca, so this would allow more droop before hitting the coil. You've got to watch for the LCA angles too though, if you get a lot of droop with Camburgs UCA's where the LCA ties in with the knuckle (ie. lower ball joint) you could have stress/binding there.

TC's website suggests their UCA is dimensionally the same as stock but with a uniball ... obviously better for longevity than stock but I don't think it's gonna do anything for the coil/UCA contact problem.

Camburg website says their UCA's require maximum 4.75 backspacing ... to me this suggests their UCA extends further from the coil than the TC or stock UCA's ... which is a good thing if your trying to keep these parts from contacting due to the 5100's and the angles they create. I am trying to accomplish the same thing you are, no easy answer I can find .... $$$$. I wish I could find a bigger knuckle by itself, instead of having to buy a packaged lift kit, it could potentially solve the problem (or maybe it would create problems that I haven't thought of?)

I use the Camburgs and have 5.4" of backspacing. No problems.

If your truck was stock height and not lifted, you might have problems with backspacing.

Someone would make a good amount of money selling different size knuckles for lifted trucks. Now would it make another problem? Im not so sure about that either but i dont think it will just to get the extra 2 inches back ( Bringing the UCA back to stock specs ) because we put on a leveling kit.

Yeah camburg not Cambridge...autocorrect!

I emailed camburg so well see what they can do for shipping...I'm in Hawaii so as long as they can get them out here relatively reasonable then I will most likely go that route...plan on keeping this truck for at least 4 more years so it will save money and time in the long run.

Anybody know where I could find a set of the camburg 1"? They went to a 1.25" ball and increased the price 100 bucks...I would be more than happy with the 1". I called a couple places but they just order straight from camburg...hoping someone has a set of the old style in stock still.

Suggestions?

Ordered the camburg 1.25" uniball...gonna be 3-4 weeks till they get to the island...I'm gonna order need moogs lower ***** and stabilize links to put on while I'm down there...guess the three weeks will give me plenty of time to research amd read so I can do it myself. Anything else I should consider replacing while I'm down there? I have a clunk when hitting bumps and some right turns. Guessing its a combo of bad uppers and stabilizer links since I've had that issue before.

I agree you will like them. I have the new 1.25" on mine and they made a noticeable difference in bump steer, and their new recessed fasteners make for a nice clean look. Not to mention they make the stock UCA’s look like toys.
