add a leaf...

been searching for add a leaf posts, and it turns up a whole bunch of results...from what i read, it looks like procomp and AS is the leader? i have a 2006 f150 screw, 2.5 AS, and just got my snugtop installed last week. now the back is pretty low. i know i want to go with aal and not blocks. recommendations of long or short leaf/brand would be greatly aprreciated. would love to go with a rize lift, but can't afford it at this time.

I had the exact same problem as you when I put on my 2.5 AS. I went with a long AAL, they are supposed to ride better than the short ones. The install was not difficult but was somewhat of a PITA. It gave me back the factory rake. The AAL works great but if I had to do it over again I would go with air bags for easy install and the ability to adjust.

thanks for the tip! think i'll go with the long aal. that is the cheaper option right? the lift should be going on in a year or two, so don't want to spend too much right now. what brand aal did you go with? thanks again!

they're likely all the same, as they're just pieces of steel. just check wether they come painted and how much lift they supposedly give before you buy. i've bought generic that weren't painted and also have a pair of nice ones from Superlift with a good black paint finish. go with the long ones for a better ride, but harder install. mine are long, slightly firmer than stock, but not a harsh ride. i have to agree with ab46501 though......if i was to do it again, i'd go with the adjustable air lift foe $100 more.

Mine is a superlift too. Like mentioned they are all basically the same. Just make sure it's powdercoated.

I did air lift brand ride-rite kit and install was simple. I have some pics in my profile with the bags at different psi and the amount it varies the rear end. They work great loaded as well. I have never installed aal but the bags were easy. Just had ramps so I could fit under the truck better. No jacks. Ran lines into cab. Works great for me. Level when loaded or unloaded.
