Bilstien install price??

I had Bilstien 5100's installed on my 08 4x4 last week. I was quoted around $700-750 for the shocks and the install. Well when it was all said and done they charged me $255.00 for the install $120.00 for alignment and $25.00 for "oil and lube disposal fee"..... I wasn’t aware shocks gushed out oil when you replaced them. Don’t get me wrong I am all about a business making a profit but this seems a little extreme especially since I was quoted so much lower. Total install time was 2 1/2 hours, which works out to around $160.00 an hour. If I’m wrong let me know. I’m happy with the work just not the fact they lead me on with one price and ended up charging close to $200 more. Thanks.

well it is a pain to change these shocks, and if they swapped over the coils, which i assume they did, then the time is about right, and if they charge by the half hour then it works out to $51/ half hour, or $102/hour. which is a bit high for standard maintenance work. and the disposal fee is correct, there is oil in the shocks, and technically they should not be just thrown away

My shop I use charges $80hr labor. $49 front wheel alignment or $99 all wheel alignment. disposal $25. So probally 2 hrs labor ($160) alignment($99) and disposal($25) Total= @$285. Labor is where they usually get you. Looks alittle high but if they did a good job its probally worth it.

So, how do you like the Bilsteins over stock?

My mechanic gave me an estimate of $300 to install the shocks, with NO alignment. He doesn't do alignments.

I think I paid 225 for the install, 80 for the alignment, and kept the old shocks.

The more I drive it, the more I don’t mind paying what I did. I just feel like they quoted me low just to get my business and then jacked it up once it was installed.

"So, how do you like the Bilsteins over stock?"
Night and day over stock. I also put a Ready Lift 3" block in the back (did that install on my own). I didn’t think 2" in the front and 1" in the back would make that big of a difference but it looks huge next to a stock 4X4. It handles much better in corners. The ride is a little bit stiffer but I feel like I could run over a Prius and barley feel it. The Bilstiens are worth the money.

Yeah man thats really, really high. I hope that price includes cuddle time. I paid <$200 for the billys to be installed on my 07 Toyota 4x4. I'm about to get em installed on this F150 now and have been quoted the same <$200.00 with alignment.
