Stock wheels and tires with 6"fabtech lift

I was planning on getting a 6"fabtech lift and 2"spacers in the front to level it out. Untill I can get the money for new wheels and mud grapplers can I run the lift with my stock wheels and tires? I have a 06 f150 4.6L 2wd. Stx.

I'm not sure if it'll be different for a 2wd, but had ran factory 18" wheels and tires on a 6" Procomp until I had the money for new wheels. I didn't have any rubbing issues. I ended up putting a 2" level on top of the 6" which I believe is what your wanting to do. I put factory wheels on a couple of times just to have my other wheels off to clean them. I couldn't turn all the way b/c the tie rod would rub against the inner lip of the wheels.

I seem to member that members running the OEM wheels with Pro Comp and Fabtech lifts were using stock sized tires.

I went by discount tire today (where I used to work) and had a good chat with my old manager. 1st off he said he would sell me the $300 mud grapplers for $200, second he said he would also sell me wheels for cheaper, and 3rd he said I can pay him whenever I want. So I suppose I can get new tires and wheels right after I get my lift. But if anyone knows for sure id still like to know

I think you can run them but you might need wheel spacers? Someone correct me if Im wrong, but I think only certain lifts keep everything in stock specs to run stock wheels, like Skyjacker is one that allows stock wheels to be run afterwards with no problems.

Others have wider specs and certain backspacing is required to be ran on wheel options, or getting wheel spacers for stock rims to push them out far enough for clearance. Pretty sure this is correct. I do know Skyjackers allows it, dont know about Pro Comp/ Fabtech. Could try it of course, then add spacers temparely. I dunno how you would want that.

Best advise is to call the manufactor of the lift your purchasing, ask them. They should be able to tell you for sure, most of the time when reviewing the lift online or what not it states below the info page, "Requires wheels with 5 inches of backspacing or less" such like that.

yeah... call fabtech

Called fabtech before, emailed them twice and asked the same question. I'm running 295/70R18's on my stockers for my 05' 4WD with a leveling kit.... hoping i could hold out for awhile to get the new rims with the new tires.

First time they said "it should work, you MIGHT have to add a 1/4'' spacer"; second time the dude basically told me "FABTECH DOES NOT TEST LIFTS WITH LESS THAN 5'' OF BACKSPACE.... so we don't know..."

i couldn't get the bilstein part number off the bilstein shocks in their kit... since its supposed to be such a great lift... i wish they would answer. wait... maybe they should know.

Good luck calling fabtech. i've been trying to find out the same answer. maybe i'll just got with a BDS....

There was a dude on here that was running oversized tires on stocks... but they were not an aggressive MT and he particularly chose them because they didn't have an aggressive sidewall. He was a 2WD. he had 18'' lariat rims.

Hope this helped!

I know what you mean. Yeah if you got the money and have a 4wd Id go with a BDS lift.

Like I stated though. Most of the time, If you look over or review the pages describing the lift and its specifications it usually describes the wheel dilemma. Pretty much if they dont say you can run stock wheels that means you cant without wheel spacers.

Skyjacker likes to point out that stock wheels can be run with their kit, so they point that out. Most of the time, the specs state what tire size fits with a specific backspacing. Meaning a 315/70 can fit on with a wheel of 5 inches of backspacing.

If you cant get a for sure answer then take it as they cant be ran without wheel spacers. Not too big of a deal just get some wheel spacers for the front, you will only need them for the front and could get a small spacer to give just enough spacing to run them.

Stock wheels and tires will work on 6" and not rub against the knuckle. You can't put a wider tire because the tire will rub against the knuckle. When you buy aftermarket wheels with 5" bs or less it pushes the wheel away from the knuckle therefore allowing for a wider tire to clear the knuckle.

Where I was rubbing with factories was due to the angle of the tie rod with the extra 2" of lift. If you only have a 6" lift then it won't matter so no need to worry.

This is when it was first lifted. No rubbing at all.

yes you can run run the stock tires/wheels with a 6" but it would hit with the spacer. but it looks like you are gonna get your tires/wheels anyway. should look good.

i've called fabtech so many times and they always have an answer or find one for me. I had problems and they sent parts out 100% free and only asked my name and shipping info. fabtech has and will continue to have all my business in the future because of all the awsome customer service, hands down. BTW the fabtech install manual says "O.E.M. WHEELS & TIRES CAN BE REINSTALLED WITH THIS KIT. A LARGER TIRE CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON
THE O.E.M WHEEL. FABTECH RECOMMEND’S A 17X8 WHEEL WITH A 5” BACK SPACING WITH A 315/70R17
TIRE."
