Fabtech lift question?

Hey ya'll,

So i've been looking into getting a lift kit for my 2005 F150 4X4. Right now its got a 2'' level with 295/70R18 trail grapplers on stock rims. One of the concerns I had is I wanted to be able to run my stock wheels, at least for awhile(till these trail grapplers get bald), before i splurged on new wheels and tires. At first I was looking at settling on a 4'' rancho... but after talking to a few offroad shops in the area, and reading up on here, I decided **** it, and i'll just got with a 6'' fabtech basic kit, which with upgrades could get me 8'' of lift and room to run 37X12.50's.

I did some wheel and tire comparisons between what fabtech recommended and what I had on the truck right now. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp using this wonderful comparing tool, i realized the fabtech with my current wheels/tires would only been 1/2 inch closer to the control arm. I contacted fabtech with my wheel and tire specs, and they said basically "sure it'll work, you might have to run a 1/4 spacer but I think you would be completely fine without it".

I know alot of ya'll have commented on various "6'' lift with stock rims" in the forum, i think i've read most of them. I'm a little weary of believing fabtech because of these various threads, but I just wanted to get ya'lls opinion.

i have seen it done on a fabtech, i don't know if they had spacers or not. guy still hadn't upgraded tire size. there is also another guy near me who has 9" of lift(6 suspension, 3 body) on stock wheels with 35's (needs to upgrade), not sure on his specs either, can't remember what lift he was running either.

anyone local to you that has the lift kit and will let you test fit your wheels up front to check?
