balljoint time

My lower balljoints are due for replacement and i plan on doing the job myself. does anyone know how much torque is required to remove and put in these things? i mean approximately how much torque would i need from an impact wrench?

Right but an impact wrench can be used with the press. im guessing my 1/4 inch impact driver rated at 133 ft lbs wont do it, how much torque will place it where it needs to be? I like things to be as easy as possible and need to know before buying an impact wrench.

If your compressor doesn't have enough juice it's still easily done by hand with a 1/2" ratchet. Just did it today.

Ok thanks jesse my impact driver is a cordless. i called advance and someone there said 110 should do it, its good to know a ratchet would be easy if the impact driver doesnt work.

impact makes it so much easier. If you can't get it pressed all the way in use a ratchet with a snipe or breaker bar to get it totally in. Make sure you press it in straight.

I have to claim ignorance here, i dont know what a snipe is. i thought a press would put it in straight automatically.

The impact driver probably doesn't put out 133ft-lbs just because thats what it is rated for. If those numbers were really true, it would take 4 of me to remove my lug nuts. I think you are going to have to resort to using a ratchet.
