using traction bars on a 4X2
I recently installed a set of traction bars on my truck. I hadn't really thought much about doing such a thing. They were sent to me to try out.
Well I've got to say it is an improvement. It's quicker off the line, without spinning the tires. It's also alot easier to get going when the roads are wet.
I'm curious if any one is using traction bars on thier truck. For every day driving. I was also wondering if anyone knew of problems that might occur as a result of the traction bars.
The ones I intalled are made by Lakewood. I know they aren't top of the line. I think they might work out good for someone who just wants a tighter ride. They can be seen at www.mrgasket.com.

Are these part #21910 ?? If so, do they simply attach to the springs with those 2 clamps like the picture? Do they allow enough back and forward adjustment to get the bumpstop directly under the front spring eye? Have the loosened up with time or loads? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Max Mitchell,
Yes the parn number is 21910. They do attatch with the brackets as shown in the picture. There are flat plates that go on the top side of the springs.
There is not enough forward ajustment to get the snubber directly under the front spring eye. I contacted the folks at Mr. Gasket about this. I was told that it is not crucial that the snubber be directly under the front spring eye. They said it would actually give a better ride if it were set up slightly back from the front spring eye. I didn't think they would fit, but if they say it's ok then hopefully it is.
They have been on for a week now. I don't believe they have loosened at all. I am planning to get under there today to check.
They have improved the ride. There is deffinitly a difference when taking off. Especially with the manual transmission.
If you have any information related to the use of traction bars, it would be great is you could pass it on.
