Shocks

I have a 2000 F150XLT EXT CAB with 150,000miles. It has the original shocks and they are beginning to ride a little rough. I'm looking for replacements that provide a good smooth ride as well as perform well. I do very little hauling and do not tow. Any suggestions? Thanks

I like my Bilstiens but they are firm not a soft ride. They handle very well.

Beginning??? Buddy, you're shocks haven't been doing anything for you for about 100,000 miles now...LOL!

And it's all perception...old, worn out shocks don't ride rough. It's the lack of control the old shock is providing that screws the ride. They're literally not doing anything but taking up space.

Any good quality, name brand shock will do the trick. You especially want a good quality shock if you have a 4WD. Too soft of a shock on the torsion bars system doesn't provide the control you need. You can't take a vehicle sprung this stiff and get a soft, plush ride from soft, plush shocks. Shocks have to be balanced to the task at hand.

Bilstein, Rancho, maybe a few others (depending on your budget) will all treat you right. Opinons vary (welcome to the internet/forums, right) but I would stay clear of Munroe, Gabriel, etc.
