Too Much Play In the Steering

About 3 or 4 days ago, I noticed on my way to work that the steering wheel has to be turned slightly further to the left before the power steering kicks in. Only does it to the left. Steering kicks in immediately when turning the wheel to the right.

Now, I have to turn it about a quarter turn to the left before anything happens. I got a D.U.I. stop on my way home yesterday morning, because the steering is so sloppy.

Any suggestions on what the problem is, and how can I fix it?

I had what I would describe as slop in my wheel as well. I installed rancho quicklift shocks and got an alignment, and it feels nice and tight now.

i took it to the dealership so im sure if you take it somewhere else it will be cheaper
i also had to had my ball joints replaced bc they were wore out
its was 1300 bucks including labor
before when i thought i only had to have cams he said it would be 300 to replace all 4 cams and that included labor

Latest update on my steering problem: power steering for turning left is completely useless. Still works 100% to the right. Am thinking a valve in the steering box has completely crapped out on that side.

replaced all 4 cams and the ball joints and had it aligned. my stearing wheel is straight now but i still have a little play, not much. im guessing from the body lift or the age on the truck?
