Rancho 4''
Rancho 4''
Hey ya'll,
So right now I have a 2005 F150 4X4 with 295/70R18 trail grapplers with a 2'' leveling kit. I've been looking into getting a lift kit or a blower, and i've pretty much decided to go with the lift kit....
So far the rancho is my front runner. It seams everybody on this site that actually has it loves it. heres my questions
1) People are reporting a 5.25'' lift out of the rancho 4''.... Is this true?
2) I already have a 2'' leveling kit. If I wanted to leave the leveling kit on it and add a leaf to get a leveled 6'' look?
3) If I put the 2'' leveling kit spacer on with the lift, is that going to put anymore stress of my suspension than the leveling kit on the stock suspension?
Any other tidbits ya'll could add would help. Thanks!

I definitely got more the 4" - I say it's a hair over 5" so 5.25" is pretty close. With 35's and an additional 1" spacer, the height of my truck to top of cab is right at 6'8".

You can do whatever you want but for me, the benefit of going with a suspension lift rather than some cobbled-parts lift is to get all my angles to as close as stock as possible plus maintain reliability. Therefore, I wouldn't go with anymore than a 1.5" spacer (I have a 1" for now but considering an AutoSpring offset 1.5"er).

Hard to answer... But to help with any added stress, I suggest replacing both upper and lower balljoints while you're installing the lift. You have to take it all apart anyway, so why not also install new lower BJs and a new OEM upper control arms (with BJ). It's no secret I like Moog HD stuff and Rockauto.com has 'em for cheap. The grease fittings are great and the upper BJ is now replaceable. Since you have an '05, you will be very glad you did this upgrade rather have anything fail, or have to pull stuff back apart to install the new BJs in the very near future.
Anyway, it's a great kit, I am sure you'll love it!!

yes, everyone in the know, knows about rock auto. I was planning on going with the mog ball joints whenever I did this.
How about for protection on the underside provided by the kit? I didn't get the factory skid plates with mine... are their any issues with having to remove any of the factory skid plates with the rancho kit?
What did you add the 1'' spacer for? was there a slight rake to the truck, or were you trying to get additional clearance for tires?
