SAS thoughts, questions.

hey guys so i've always said once my truck isn't my DD i would SAS it and i would like to start gathering parts now. i feel like im really pushing my truck as it is and being as though i have never broken anything on it i think im long overdue.

with that being said i've got some things i can sell/trade for a good D60 (set of rockwells, debraked, with everything to put them under a leaf sprung truck). sterling 10.25's aren't that expensive so that's not a problem. i've also got a set of 12in. chevy superlift leafs with a custom 13in. leaf pack that goes with them on my k5 blazer right now that im selling. i know the spring perches would have to be changed, ford to chevy, but that's not hard.

so am i right in thinking that i pretty much have all of the main costly parts?

could i use the chevy springs?

i figure there will be more expensive parts like steering and some brackets but im i close?

any helps appreciated.

haha i've wanted a super charger for awhile now..... buuutttt i would love the way my truck would look and perform on some 44's-46's and a suspension meant to handle it.

i can powerbrake my 41s with no problem and still slide all over the place when its wet and thats enough for me. who knows i may still supercharge it first though.

for right now im just collecting parts. i just got these tires so it will be at least after this set is worn out. i've got a lot of stuff to get together which should be easy over time. my plan is once its done to have two sets of tires, the first for DD would probably be some truxus ats in a 44x21x20 then have a set of 44in. boggers as a mud set.

sup becka?? Sas stands for straight axle swap. Makes it a whole lot easier to lift the truck way up in the air because independent front suspension can only go so far. Tell him to get a supercharger!

Dude.. supercharge it I am telling you. This is probably why I had to buy a new trans a couple days ago but powerbrake? Come on, its all about going about 10mph or so and then stomping it and losing control on dry asphalt.

ha thanks for the compliment and i don't bite, like b2therad said SAS stands for straight axle swap or solid axle swap. you're essentially taking the two solid axles out from under an f250 and swapping them under an f150 which doesn't have a front solid axle.

haha that is exactly why you had to buy a new tranny. im sure i would rip my drive shaft a new one with my 41s, Ogterror twisted his with just 38s and a supercharger. then my gears would probably go not long after.

with 1 ton running gear i would have nothing to worry about.

Yea well OG has built everything. I dont think you would make that much power with just a supercharger. Those 41s are going to kill your gains as opposed to a truck like fatherfords or any small truck. BUT it would be a night and day difference. My trans also had 191k on it . Probably made to handle like 270 horses stock, and I was pushing that by alot. It was about time pretty much. I dont think I could twist my drive shaft a new one yet, but that would be intense. I hope to be able to do that by summer though.. waiting for obama to send me some income tax monaaay . Then I will need a spare set of wheels and some knock off tires.

haha i heard that.

well technically nothing is wrong with it but since our trucks are half tons it only has half ton axles. half tons are only supposed to be able to handle around a 38in. tire max. with one ton axles i'll be able to handle up to a 44-46in. tire.

Kinda late here but, dont leaf spring it. Spend the money to have it 4 linked. Its too nice of a truck to cut up for a leaf spring front end. I love my leaf springs but will be going to a parrallel 4 link front and trianglated 4-link rear.

The money you spend leaf springing it will aggravate you to no end knowing you could have 4 linked it for alittle more.

To save you some money leave the rear as is, You already have leaf springs back there anyway, you could do a shackle flip to gain some extra inches (probably around 5.5")
