Bilsteins for 6 inch Lift?

Currently Im running a 6 inch Skyjacker lift with a 2 inch spacer. Id like to get new shocks/struts and not sure if I should order Skyjackers. The best price I found was $330 for a pair of Skyjackers part#F60STS.

Ive been researching Bilsteins for a week now and have want to go with them, but Im not sure which ones. Ive seen a few people mention the Bilsteins for a 4-6" lift as seen HERE . However, I cannot find that part number in the Bilstein catalog. My problem with these is Id obviously have to run them on the 6" setting and it appears that is accomplished by compressing the coil which seems to me would stiffen my already stiff ride.

I have also heard people mention Bilsteins for a 6" lift. I get the feeling they are confusing the 4-6" Bilsteins. However, Page 16 of the Bilstein Offroad Catalog shows what appears to be a non adjustable 6" strut with a different part number than the 4-6's. Now, heres where Im really confused... Why is it the same part number for the non lifted 0-2" strut?

I hear nothing but good things about Bilstein and want to make sure I avoid loosing any lift or compromise my ride quality. It appears there is more than one option for my truck. Which one is what I ask?

Side Note: What is everybody using for a boot and bump stop with these? My plastic POS on the left side broke up top where it mounts. Its just floating at the bottom of the coil...

i have those struts, made for the 4"-6" lift, i have some pics in my album of them, heres what i can say with my experience with them so far.
the good - they totally replace that huge 6" spacer, install was pretty simple, price is reasonable
the bad - ride quality did improve but it still rides like a lifted truck because they have to be cranked up to the 6" setting, instructions arent the greatest
overall i would still recommend them over stock, im not fimiliar with the skyjacker ones

I came across your truck during my many searches. Skyjacker thankfully does not incorporate a 6" spacer like some of the lift manufacturers. I know they would work on my truck, how well is the question...

Im trying to figure out what the difference is between the struts you went with vs the ones listed in the Bilstein Offroad Catalog. Like I had mentioned, the ones in the catalog appear to be 6" specific and non adjustable. After calling around, I still cannot get an answer. Im currently on hold with Bilstein....

from what i get out of that catalog page 16, is running that 0-2" strut with a 6" spacer to achieve 8" but im not sure... if your truck doesnt have a 6" spacer i wouldnt even bother getting the bilstiens... do u have a close up pic of your setup now? and a link for the skyjacker struts u were looking at?

I think you are correct on the Bilstein catalog. I was on hold for 25 minutes only to be told it was a "typo"... I doubt that... I think its just staying it will work on kits that unilize a 6" spacer.

The Skyjacker strut is F60STS. It looks just like an OEM setup, just 6" longer.

I read your multiple posts prior to creating this thread about your experience with the 4-6" struts. I also saw this THREAD where this guy took out his 6" pro comp spacer and made these work.

What Im getting at is, these 4-6" struts are made specifically for the RCD lift. It has the option of being either 4 or 6". From what I can gather, the drop down bracket is 4" allowing for the option to go either way via the Bilsteins. There is no spacer involved with this lift. My skyjacker has a 6" drop down bracket, no spacer so it appears these shocks set on 6" should work just like my skyjunkers. Im still not sure on how exactly these will work out, but I think Im going to order them today.

I have these on my Pro Comp Lift. They completely replace the 6" spacer and the stock shock. They fit just as the stock shock does into the coil, however the difference is there are 2 grooves on the Bilstein outer sleeve, set 2" apart. The upper groove is for a 6" lift and the lower is for 4". These grooves are where you set the bottom plate of the coil into, thus giving different lift heights.

You can use the Bilstein shocks in any lift.

sure can. i'd go with a 2 inch or 2.5 level at the absolute tops. Your CV's are gunna be pretty angled but its up to you. I have the setup you are looking for just with 22's, oh and the same style truck lol

"6" is the guy I was referring to who had to settle for 7" with a Rough Country 6" lift in my reply to your post in the 04-08 section.
