Front Hub assembly
Those hubs are one piece units you buy as an assembly. If you have any basic mechanical knowledge and most basic tools you should be able to tackle it yourself. As for going bad you may hear some noise out of it, but the quickest test is to lift front end off ground and check for play by rocking wheel/tire in and out.
the most sure fire way of checking a hub is to pull the tire and rotate the hub by hand. if there is any binding, grinding, or squealing, the hub needs to be replaced.
some things to check while driving:
-sounds like a rock is stuck in a tire
-poor braking, vibration while breaking
-compare the heat of one wheel to another, if that wheel is a lot hotter you need to replace the hub
-with the heat comes the smell of brake fluid (i think it smells like syrup)
