Help withe lift decision
I think I'm gonna go with billstein 5100's in the front instead of my original plan of the AS spacers but I want to put a little something in the rear too.I can't decide if I want to get a aal kit or a block kit.I don't even know what size to get.....I'm gonna run 33x12.50x18 if that helps.Let me know what you think my best options will be and the best place to get them
First question to ask, how often do you tow/haul. If it is not on a regular basis go with a block and keep the existing ride quality. If you could go for some added stiffness go with the AAL. However, with only running 33" you may want to consider only lifting front 1" - 1.5" and leaving the rear as is, help save the front end components.
Thats a good point.I dont haul anything with much weight.Any advice on what size block and what kit to go with? The billsteins are adjustable right? I mean, I thought I could pretty much put them where I wanted up to 2 inches.......
IMO, I wouldn't do anything to the rear, unless your going to be hauling heavy stuff, which you said you wasn't. Reason being, the Bilsteins are not going to completely level your truck, at least it didn't mine. Plus, adding a AAL or a block would just give back the rake look that I assume your trying to get rid of. I know the '04 models had more rake than the latter years, don't know about the '05 models, maybe someone can chime in.
some F150s have only 2 leaves w/overload and some have 3 leaves w/overload, there is no rhyme or reason for which ones have which, but the 3 leave w/overload is almost an inch higher!
iv seen 2 leaves on loaded XLT 5.4L, and on stripped XL 4.2L, Ive seen 3 leaves on every style as well, so if you have the truck with only 2 leaves, I would put an add a leaf, if you have 3 leaves W/overload, I would do as UofKboy said and leave it!
Hope this helps!

Thank you guys for the help.I'm gonna check my leaf's today and see what I got going on under there.....

I just installed 5100's yesterday and couldn't be happier. There is still an ever so slight rake, but hardly noticeable. The ride quality is a bit firmer than stock, but not objectionable. Handling is much better.
I wouldn't do it different if I was to do it over.

You won't be disappointed.
I am running 275/60R20 Terra Grapplers, basically a 33" tire, and the look is just what I wanted.
Maybe a lift kit is in order someday, but not now. Another 2" and my truck won't fit in the garage! Not to mention all the parking garages in Baltimore.

I had trouble finding them as well, you have to look under "lifted truck applications" after you choose Ford. Hope this helps, if not call and speak to Charlie. He was very helpful when I called with questions. The listings are a bit confusing, but you'll notice that the part no.s are the same on a few.
