Questions about lift

First of all, I have been lurking the forum reading up on lifting my 1999 F-150. I have found answers to most of my questions but still need a little help.

It is 1999 F-150 XLT 4x4, 5.4L V8 extended cab. I am looking for a 6" suspension lift. Either a pro comp, BDS or maybe fabtech. I was wondering if I want to run 35-37" tires on here would I need to re-gear? I bought this truck used and I'm almost positive that it has the stock gears in it. Will I need to adjust the shocks on my lift to get it level?

Also I am running 17" rims 5 lug with 265/70R17 BF Goodrich tires. Would those look odd on a 6" lift. I can't afford tires and lift at the same time.

Thanks to anyone that helps

I'd recommend the Fabtech, BDS or RCD lift. These three are usually considered the best lifts for our trucks I'd recommend running a 35 inch tire on a 10 inch wide wheel. If you want 37's, plan on adding a body lift. Our trucks have torsion bars, not coilover shocks so the shocks have no affect on ride height. The ride height is adjustable via the amount of preload on the torsion bars.
As for gearing, a lot depends on your powertrain and how you use your truck. You can get away without regearing with 35's if you don't do a lot of heavy towing/hauling. With 37's, you will have to regear regardless.
