Do I need new leaf springs?

I have a 98 XLT, standard cab, 8 ft. bed, with towing package ... but I've done virtually no towing, and very little heavy hauling, since the truck has been new. Suspension is stock (except for replacement shocks). However, it now has 190K miles.

At least one of the leaf springs is squeaking - a bunch. Every time I get in/out, go over a curb, etc. It's definitely the spring (I got my head under there while bouncing the truck).

Does this just mean I'm due for a set of springs ... or are there bushings/bumpers that need to be replaced? Admittedly, I haven't looked hard at these yet to see how they're constructed.

Thanks,
dogfood

i just rolled 190k today in my reg cab long bed!

I dont think leaf springs are usually something you replace unless ones broke or they're saggin real low and lost their strength. Or if it bothers you that much and you have the money and time to replace them. There are bushings in there that are probably makin noise in the shackles where they connect to the frame. Just search leaf spring bushing kit on google
