tie rod bolt and castle nut turning together...

I replaced my drivers side outer tie rod end with no problem then proceeded to do the passenger side, but the castle nut and bolt kept turning together while trying to get the nut off with my rachet. How do I get the castle nut off the bolt?

Either impact or there should be a spot on the threads at the top that looks like a nut and use a enwrench to hold it from spinning

Do the new ones come with a new nut? I know ball joints do, if they do then just cut it off. either a hacksaw or cutoff wheel.

I typically use a c-clamp style vise grip to compress the tie rod end to the knuckle. Then I use an impact to remove the nut.

you can either get something to hold the tie rod in tightly or get a pair of vice grips and grip a part of the bolt while you turn it. might have to pull out a combination wrench for the last suggestion.

easiest way would be to cut it off.

cut it off, you're replacing it anyway and the new one comes with a new castle nut

Since I don't have access to an impact gun I had to cut the nut off. I tried everything though. I used vice grips and a wrench. I put a pickle fork in there to put pressure on the joint etc. So I brought out the sawzall and it was off in 10 minutes.

Thanks for the help
