leveling kit

hello there, im interested in putting a leveling kit on my truck. its a 2004 4x4 reg cab xlt flareside. i currently have 285/70 17s on moto metal 951 rims. i've taken the blocks out from under the u-bolts on my rear end to make it sit a little bit better. the wheel package i have now just barely clears and rubs just a little when i put it end a bind and fully turned. i have no clue on where to start with leveling kits, so i need your help. i wanna put the blocks back on my rear end. so on that note, which leveling kit should i get??? and does anybody have any pics of there leveling kits to a truck similiar to mine???

thanks, daniel

Here is my 04 with a 2.5" on 305/65-R18. that time is about a 34. I used the coil spring spacer that required the use of a spring compressor.... Bad choice... For one the spring compressor i used was a cheapo and was not usable after we got finished. for two it made the truck a little stiffer.. here is a link to the type i am talking about. I bought mine from 4wheel parts and they dont even sell that type anymore for our trucks.

I think it is best to use the autospring type that goes in between the strut and the strut tower. just google autospring leveling kit to see what i am talking about.

Here is my 2004 FX4 with 275/70-18 BFG AT's, 2" AutoSpring, and Monroe Load Leveling rear shocks:

You should plan on getting an alignment after the AutoSpring is installed.

thanks guys, y'll got some nice trucks. do you think a 2.5 inch leveling block the one that goes in between your strut and strut tower + the factory blocks on the rear end would make it sit to high in the front or too high in the back?

I have the 2.5" leveling block with 285/70/18 Terra Grapplers on my 06 King Ranch...I'll let you decide if the blocks in the back would make it sit too high.

I went with the 2" Autospring, because anything bigger may create excessive strain on the CV axles and suspension components over time.

You may want to research the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks, then you can adjust the ride height for your preference.

i had bilstein shocks and uh, haha, turns out they cant handle a "accidental ramping". lol i broke the driver side shock so i put the stock ones back on and replaced a few things. i liked em but i dont wanna spend that money again and im fixing to trade off the truck possibly so i was gunna go with a simple cheaper leveling set up. and to 2006TXKR, you gotta nice truck. it appears to pretty level but its kinda hard to tell cause of your driveway.

Thank you...if it is not level, it is pretty close. I've run the 2.5" kit for 3 years with no problems, and it was cheap...I think around $200.
