Need help!!!

alright i have a 2004 lariat 4wheeldrive. i bought the truck used and it seemed to have a small ( 1.5 or 2 cause the truck didnt seem to leveling but it deffiantly has a kit on it) and i ordered a 3 inch hellbent steel leveling kit. we went to put the new one on and when we did it the bolts on the top of the strut are to long and would not let the kit slide all the way down to the strut. it seems like the leveling kit that was on it before made the screws longer. there for the only way to make it work was to leave a 1 inch gap between the strut and spacers which we cant do cause once the weight of truck sits on it, it will push the spacer down. my qquestion is, does anybody no what kind of leveling kit requires this? and how would i go about getting the stock size bolts for the struts. i no this seems confusing but maybe somebody could help. thanks.
