New suspension lift!

So yesterday I got my new(to me) suspension lift. I bought it for 800 with everything including bolts and shocks. It is a 6" fabtech lift. I have a couple questions. It didn't come with a steering stabilizer, so i was wondering if i should get one from fabtech? its only like 90 bucks. I am thinking i should, because i think im going to get 38" tires, being that i already have a 3" body lift it would make the 35's look to small i think, but we will see about that later. Just wondering if you guys think i should get the steering stabilizer or if it's not worth it? Also, the shocks are in need of a paint job, but i heard that these shocks aren't even that good so im looking into getting new ones, for a good price. Any suggestions? thanks!

I would DEFINATELY do new shocks at time of install. I would recommend Bilstiens even though I think that they are on national backorder right now. If your planning on 38's I would do the steering stabilizer as well. Damn I wish I could find some good used lift kits around me{St. Louis MO area}

I'm in the exact same boat as you, I have recently purchased a (used) RCD 6" lift and have a 3" BL in my truck now. I ordered the Fabtech FTS8009 steering stabilizers. I've also been looking into regearing to 4.88 before doing the install and putting on 38's, running 35's at the moment. Are you planning on regearing and do you have a tuner? look forward to seing some pictures with your fabtech lift installed.

Wookie13- Ya its really tough finding a [B]good[B] used lift kit for a good price. But mind you, i drove 6 hours one way for it lol. But it will be worth it! And thanks for the recommendation on the shock!

North50- Thanks for the input. i think i will order the stabilizer too just to be sure. I mean its not like its 300 bucks so why not. I have been thinking of doing a re-gear, and i really want to. But I'm, not sure how to. any info on how i rear gear? i really think i should if i go with 38" tires. I do have a tuner in it. But it was bought more for just the speedo (keeping it right with the 33" tires). So i am looking into buying a chip with the different stages and such, just not sure which to go with! Looking forward to see your 6" lift as well!

Hey Mike, if you can put on a dual steering stabilizer. I have single stabilizer on my truck right now and running 38's. It does a good job but dual one would work a lot better.

1.) Regearing will probably run you around $1200-1500, and you will need to regear both front and back diffs due to being 4wd. You will need to get 4:88s on both ends. Brands I would go with would be Yukon, Ford Racing or Motive, but there are other reputable brands. If your truck has more than 100k I would definitely get the master install kits with the new bearings/seals.. etc.

Rough country used to make a dual stabilizer set-up, but I am not sure if they do anymore. Fabtech would probably work something out with you if you wanted to throw some $$$ their way. That is, if they dont have a set-up already.

b2therad- Holy that's a lot lol. But i don't wanna ruin my truck and i am sandblasting and painting it all right now so i have some time to get the gears. So i would go with 4.88's in both front and back? I think i will first try fab tech for the double stabilizer just so its all fab tech, if not ill try some other places! thanks for the info!

You wont ruin your truck, but its going to be pretty slow with 38s and stock gearing. My buddy has been running 4:10s on his blazer that he has 44s on forever, and thats way under-geared. Its not going to be bad unless you are towing stuff or trying to race anyone . You definitely need atleast 4:56s or 4:88s both front and back. If you were supercharged I would say just go with 4:56s, but your low end will be even better with 4:88s.

As far as the steering stabilizer... Superlift has a pretty sweet dual stabilizer set-up. I just checked, but the middle piece says superlift. IDK if you are a brand mismatcher

Maybe ill put the lift in once i get it painted and such, and then get the gears soon after. it's not a truck that does any pullin, just a fun truck! i am planning on getting a nice chip sometime in the near future, right now i have a power programmer though. i think when i re-gear i will probably just go with 4:88's.

Right on i will look into the super lift set up! and really it doesn't matter to me lol. As long as its nice!

Check out the BDS Dual Stabilizers. I have them on my truck and love them, and the price and bad either. The 4:88 gears from yukon are a really good.

definitely do new shocks. Even when the fabtech shocks are new they SUCK, and i've been dealing with the things for 3 years now Steering stabilizer is also a must do. For the price, its worth it in not having to replace from steering components all the time.

Anyone have any recommendations on shocks in the $200/ea price range?
