Suspension Question

Folks,

I have a 2010 F-150 SCREW 4x4. I put on the 275/70/18 BFG AT KOs and an AS 1.5" leveling kit and had it aligned. Two problems. The angle it rides at causes a grinding noise in the front end when making turns sometimes and the traction control light comes on. I think it has something to do with the roll stability control features on the truck. I don't like this and am thinking of taking the AS off and putting on bilstein 5100's in the front. I tow a 28 ft camper and even with the weight distribution hitch, my rear end sags. I am thinking the leveling kit has something to do with this. I put on some hellwig helper springs and while it has helped the sag has not gone away when towing. I have adjust the helper springs once but am going to do it again. Should I put the 5100's on the back as well or just the front and if I do should I keep the hellwigs in place. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

J.

I'm not the best to help with this...but I've installed 285/65 R18 Nitto tires and a 2" RL leveling kit and I'm not experiencing the problems that you are.

I've looked into the bilsteins as well though.

I have experienced this same noise, others on here have also. Your tires are not rubbing. It's the Traction Control. Press the button on the dash to disable it and drive it. I've got 325/65/18 BFGs and was hearing the same noise until I determined it was the Traction Control. There's a whole thread on here somewhere about it.

Different shocks, regardless of brand, will not fix your sagging problem. You are an excellent candidate for air bags...period. They'll fix what ever you want fixed and you can ditch your helper springs.

Also, if you install the 5100's on the front and add any lift with them, you'll be back in the exact same boat you're in now with the front end. Wither you level the front with a spacer or the coil spring (i.e. The 5100's) the rest of the front end components don't care and don't know the difference...if that makes any sense.

And, if you're gonna do the front shocks, do the rear. I always believe in having a matched set. It'll ride and handle properly that way.
