Lowering

Thinking about lowering my 97 F-150 2WD a few inchs. i was going to do a spring under in the rear and maybe do something with the shackles. but im wondering how to lower the front? do i just cut a section of the coil out?

any help would be great.

i want the front to sit as low as the back is in this picture i had 4,000lbs of dirt in the bed.

Just wanna know how to make the front lower

if your serious about sitting that low in the rear, get ready for some money spendin'.

but i have a question for you. how well do you want it to ride???

First off, you will need to put a c-notch in the frame, that will allow you to have more susp travel being that low, and will also keep you from bottoming out everytime to hit a pothole. a flip kit isn't really recommended on our truck though, as they affect the ride quality a good bit. look into drop shackles and drop hangers to achieve your rear drop. in most cases, you can get 4-6" rear drop depending on what parts you buy.

For the front, depending on how much you are wanting to spend, you have a list of different options. you can do cut stock coils, lowering coils, cut lowering coils, spindles, or lower control arms (LCAs). cheapest route would be cutting your stockers, but your truck will ride like a boat on choppy water.

you can cut the coils but if you do, make CERTAIN you cut the same amount off each one...otherwise you'll have a gangsta lean...lol

and make sure to use a grind wheel to cut them, NOT A TORCH! The heat of the torch will affect the spring rate, which will in turn, basically ruin the springs.

ha this can't be a serious thread, especially with all your posts about overloading your truck.

if you wanna go that low do 2" drop springs and 2" drop spindles in the front (although with drop spindles you have to run 18" or larger wheels, so if you dont wanna do that then get upper and lower control arms that will drop you 2 inches)

and just do the flip kit and drop shackles in the rear. youll also need to notch the frame and the crossmember right under your cab for axle/driveshaft clearance.

yup.

Patrick and Travis are will be your go-to guys for drop stuff.

but with a 4" rear drop, you won't be able to even haul 1000lbs of sod dirt...safely anyways.

I have upper and lower control arms with drop springs in front. The front rides great. I have a c-notch and flip kit in the rear. It rides pretty stiff. I am looking into doing a 4 link to get a better ride but the truck sits exactly how I want it now.
