Shock replacement

I am needing help with shock replacement. It's time to replace my factory shocks. I have a 2" level kit up front and not sure where to go from here. Do I get a factory shock or do I need something different. I have read alot about Billstein's from many people, but not looking for a fancy one. Do I leave the kit on or take it off? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I did some searching and found some part numbers. Are these the part numbers for the adjustable height front and rear shocks, or just for a regular shock.

Front: BE5-C298-H1
Rear: BE5-C299-H0

Remember I already have the 2" level kit on there, just looking to replace the factory shocks.

The Bilstiens are your best choice. If you get the adjustable model, you will either have to set it for stock height and use your leveling kit or set it for 2 inches of lift and remove the leveling kit.

Yes.. those part #'s are for the bilstein 5100 Adjustables if you have a 4x4.. Only now i think most of fronts are BE5-C298-H2, theres a pic of mine below. I got them last tues and installed this past friday. If your interested in these you could either remove your spacer and set the struts to 2"s for lift or set them to 0 and keep your spacer.. If you dont want the adjustables and want to keep you spacers there's the Bilstein HD's you should look into if you dont mind a yellow shock and blue boot.

Overall i love my 5100's. I replaced my original shocks/struts that only had 19,629 miles on them, removed my spacer and set these to 2" lift. The ride is night and day improvement over the oems but if i did have 1 complaint it'd be that i lost 3/8" almost 1/2" of front lift that im not thrilled about.. I've got alittle more rake now than i prefer so im considering going back to my spacer and down to level 0 . Goodluck..

Bilstein 5100's

I'd love to see pics of your truck with the Bilstein 5100's installed. I am looking at them for my '07 KR screw 4x4.

Thanks

Here's the only one I have since the install.. I took it right after i left the shop, no center caps of course.. You can see the slight rake i was talking about, more than I had with my spacer. If you look in my album you'll see pics of it before the bilsteins and my spacer.. If you want close ups of what they look like on the truck lmk I can get them for you just not right now since its 102 out and I dont wanna move . Keep in mind i've also got new BFG 35's on there.. I got them at Shockwarehouse.com, they price matched Topgunz who had the best price just not in stock . $417.00 to my door.

Take it from me, a guy who did the level kit then needed new shocks all around and did more research. Just trash those crappy level spacers and spend the money on a set of Bilstiens. I'm still waiting on my order which should (hopefully) be here next week.

On top of that do a set of airbags in the rear. I said screw it and ordered a set of Firestone with my Bilstiens and in 2 weeks Im ordering some under pulleys.

tg150..thanks for the feedback on the shocks. I would probably keep my spacer on their since I already paid for it. Have you heard anything about the Rancho shocks or even Pro Comp doing any good. I would hate to spend the money on adjustable shocks and just use them at the 0 setting, but at the same time not too thrilled about a yellow shock on a black truck either if I went with the HD you mentioned? Thanks again.

Anyone ever use, or known anyone that has, the Rancho RS9000XL or the RS5000?

I've heard really good things about the RS9000XL was thinking about getting them myself, I had the same issue too because I don't want that rake in the back to show, I would set the shocks at 0' and then keep your 2.5in kit on it...or just save up for a full suspension kit!

I also wanted to add "STAY AWAY FROM SKYJACKER" shocks. I bought a set of the nitros 3-4 months ago and have gone through 3 sets of bushings. Biggest waste of my money.

I have the Rancho 9000's. They have been on almost a year now. I also have the 2.5" AS level and Firestone air bags in the rear. I really like the combination and the truck is completely level with 10-15 lbs. in the bags. The truck rides like a luxury car on the highway but I can tighten up the suspension if I tow or go offroad, only takes about ten minutes.
