Leaf spring brackets

Changing my tires yesterday I happened to notice a couple broken parts in my rear suspension. On either side, on the the rear part of the leaf spring (after the axle) there is a "bracket" for lack of a better term that wraps around the leafs. It's purpose seems to be to keep the leafs from shifting side to side individually. On both sides, those brackets were broken and were hanging off, so I removed them. After driving home from work last night and then back to work this morning, it seems as though their purpose is needed as the leafs are noticeabely shifted today when I looked at them.

Anyone know what the actual name of this part is, and where to find them? I want to get them back on there ASAP.

I would call them leaf spring retainers, Im sure ford will want to sell you an entire leaf pack.

I may be wrong tho

Pat...those generic ones..would they be mounted on the top/bottom of the leafs or on the sides to prevent the springs from moving sideways??
Would you need 2 sets per side, 1 in front of the axle, 1 behind?

The generic retainers look perfect for an add-a-leaf application. I think the bars go on the top/bottom of the leaves. If you do not have them in the front of the axle, then I would not put any there.

Wanting to hear more about this too, because I want to use them with an AAL.

you would really only need one set per side, since it would prevent movement in either direction.

My factory F150 springs (above) have two clamps
and my Lightning F150 springs (below) have only one clamp on them

the part i've circled is the exact part i'm talking about. my springs only had one clamp on them, behind the axle. but who knows maybe there was one in front of the axle that broke and fell off at some point.

my springs look more like your factory springs which leads me to believe that there was a clamp on the front of the spring pack at some point. i'll go have a chat with the parts guy at my ford dealer and see if he can tell me what should be on there.

V6s have different spring packs then the supercrews. Depends on the cab/engine configuration as to what spring pack you have.

but like i said you should only need one clamp on each spring pack

well mine is a v8, but it's a regular cab flareside (short bed). so i'm sure the spring pack is way different than your supercrew.

My 2000 Flareside super cab V8 4x4 has one factory spring clamp, and that is located in front of the axle.
