Leaf Spring Replacement Questions

i have a 97 f150 4x4. the leaf springs have a "s" on the end of them so im looking to replace them. my question is do i need to buy a new pair, or would a good pair from the salvage yard be just the same? after there on my truck would i ever notice a difference? also does anyone know how hard they are to replace? they dont look that difficult, but i dont want to jump into someting in the driveway and have to have it towed because i got in over my head. thanks

They are pretty easy to replace, just need a 13/16" deep socket and a few other hand tools.

Make sure you have some large 6ton jack stands because you will want to get the truck high enough off the ground that you have room to work. You can get away with 4ton stands but you will need to take the wheels off to get the axle to hang all the way down.

As for the leaf springs themselves i would keep an eye out on your local craigslist and see if a set pops up.
