Is it really 2"? 4.5"?

Hi guys! I'm a long time reader but never poster but now I have a couple of questions about lift kits, leveling kits, etc. etc.
So my question here is when you install your suspencion lift kit, does it really lift 2.5", 4" or it was a little bit more? let say for the 2.5" you get a 3.5 lift, for the 4" you get a 5" maybe?
I have a friend that install a 2.5" lift kit on his jeep and he got like 4" total lift and I want to know if that is effect on Fords

BTW I have a 98 F150 SuperCab XTL 4x4, automatic transmission.

Regards!

Is the 4" just the kit or with new tires, sometimes people forget about the tires increasing the size of the vehicle.

I know the 6" fabtech lift was 6"s. But then the torsion bars were bumped a bit plus went from a 30" tire to a 37" tire, half that would be 3.5"s in tires on top of the 6-7"s of lift was a total of about 10"s over stock.

yeah I know the tires also increase the size of the truck... but I was thinking only on the kit. I want to lift my truck but not that much that it will affect my daily driving...
I had search the forum a lot and now I have more questions that answer!!
at the end, I think I will go with a leveling kit (2.5) and 33's just to gain a couple of inches, I don't do off roading that often.

I did see some treads about it but it seems like not everybody agrees on doing it because the suspencion travel changes? not sure about that I will have to do a research on that ... thanks fx4 for life 79!

I would love that too! but $ is the problem... and with a 6" lift I definitely will need to change tires/wheels, right now I have 265/75R16 BFGoodrich A/T KO, stock wheels.
