3" body lift or leveling kit?

Alright guys, im new here....ive had a 2001 f150 for about a year and a half now. Its a 01 f150 4X4 lariat extended cab. I put new maxxis big horns on there last Christmas. im looking at either putting a 2.5" leveling kit on there but im not sure if i wanna go that route or if i wanna go ahead and put a 3 in. body lift on it. i like the look of the levelin kit but i dont know if its big enough? any suggestions?

you don't need to buy aftermarket keys to level it.

so level it and do a body lift!

I agree. Forget about the aftermarket torsion bar adjustment keys. Just crank up the torsion bars with the OEM keys and install a body lift like I did.

Go with the 3 inch kit. Trust me, everything lines up better.

Ight fellas I'm still thinking bout this and have read more in depth bout cranking the torsion keys. Does it not cause un even tire wear? And make the ride a lot rougher?

the tires will wear normal if you get it aligned afterward

I did the pro comp torsion keys in the front of mine with the pro comp add a leaf in the rear and i like the way it rides and handles pulling a trailer. I would not go with a body lift for the fact of the gap between the fram and body and having to make the bumpers match. If it was a bush buggy id say go for the body lift. Pluse after you buy all the gap guards and bumper brackets for the body lift you will spend more than what torsion keys and add a leafs cost.

How much did you pay for the Pro COmp torsion bar keys? You know, you could have done the same thing for free.
But yes, increasing the preload on the torsion bars makes the intital portion of the ride slightly stiffer. Some love this, some hate it.

So those adjustment keys are a waste of money?

I was thinking on a rough country kit that includes a 1" block for the rear, also include the rancho RS5000 shocks, the maximum travel on the front
($167.95 free shipping is a good deal?)

I'm not sure if its the same with a '01, but with the 04-08 body style most shops will charge $700-1000 just for the install on BLs...but they do look amazing if done correctly.
