Measurement for AS leveler?

Am I right in assuming that ya'll measure to the top of the fender at center to determine how much "leveling" it needs?

Thanks,

David

I think thats how most guys usually do it. A lot of times you can eyeball it and determine the "look" you are going for.

I think most are at least 2'' or so different from the front to the rear, depending on 2WD or 4WD. I think the general consensus is that if you still want some of the factory rake, you can do a 1.5'' leveling kit up front, and leave the rear stock.. some guys like to go with the 2.5'' and a bigger block or AAL in the rear to keep things even and fit bigger tires.

What are you lookin to do?

Just lookin' to level it up. Maybe 1 size bigger for tires, 33's. It's got factory 275/60/18's now. I'd step up one size and leave it at that. Mostly just want to level it. Was thinking 1.5" to leave just a very minute bit of rake to it. Not yet decided.

Thanks,

David

Thats cool. There are a lot of good threads on here from guys who have gone from 1.5'' to 15 inches of lift, all with different stories and pics. Good luck!

Personally any time I have levelled by raising or lowering a vehicle I use a body line that is consistent across the vehicle. The top of the front fender well is higher from the bottom of the body then the rear wheel well. I think by design because the truck sits nose down from the factory.

if you measure my truck from the ground to the top of the front and rear bumper they are within 1/4 inch. That line is consistent with the body line the length of the truck. If you measure to the top of each fender well the front is higher or "california rake".

The girl on the phone at Hell Bent Steel talked me into getting the 2.5 in. for my 2004 screw. I wish that I had gotten the 2. It just seems that the front is sitting a little higher. My running boards still have a little rake to them, but when you look at the wheel wells it just looks funny.

The 2 inch kit works for me...

I think it depends what year you have too. Seems like ford has taken a little rake out every couple of years. My dad has a 05 scab with a 6.5 foot bed. Same length truck as mine and it has a drastic rake. Brother in law just got a 2010 and it isnt nearly as bad. I have read posts from guys with in 08s that went with 2.5 and had to lift the rear to level it out.

Measure your truck, just remember that the front wheel well is larger than the rear but it all depends on what you want for your truck.
