And a very important part of my truck to me is front-end protection; this is all but eliminated with a body lift, because for it to look worth half a crap it has to be modified to go up with the body, and loses a lot of its functionality in an "event." And don't say a bull bar looks good, because they do, but they don't protect much of anything.

I will not do a body lift for that last reason.
I've seen few trucks w/ body lifts in wrecks, in all of them the body lift held up great. A buddy of mine got in a bad wreck a few weeks ago where the truck wrapped around a tree, hit hard enough where the front bumper and rear bumper were literally a few feet from touching. This was a '99 F150 and not one bolt broke from the body lift. As for the bumper, it might be metal but it will crush regardless with any significant force, regardless of it being moved up. Not to sound like a ****, but if you hit something hard enough to sheer the bolts off on a body lift, your cab or bed seperating from the frame will be the least of your worries.

karnak, those tires will look fine with a body lift. Just upgrade when those wear out.

yeah cotedog is def right. If you hit somthing that hard to take the body bolts off, you've got more serious problems than worrying about your body lift. Plus if you take it to a reputable shop, they will do a good job. Use locktight..er whatever its called. I actually think my body lift is more like a 4" body lift. Cause those spacers under mine are definitely bigger than 3". But I am really happy with the lift. I wish I had more ground clearance. That's my only caution to you. If you are going to be doing offroading, I would save up for a suspension lift, unless you're just doing some offroading every now and then and/or you plan on putting a susp lift on later. You can see in my sig how far down the frame hangs. But to be quite honest it hangs down about as much as a 2500HD's frame. And if you put running boards on there, have brackets fabbed up for your brush guard, you'll be set. I had a set of lights on my hitch before the lift and I just recently put bigger ones there, and it helps to hide the hitch sitting lower. Make sure your kit comes with the bumper relocation brackets. And take pics

YES do it your self its not that hard! I did mine two weeks ago,by myself it took two full days. The only problem I had again was one front bolt snaped, but it gets drilled out 1/2". I put on 2" PA body lift and still have stock tires, all I keep hearing is put bigger tires on it! I had 3" body lift on Ranger when I totaled it and trailer off, body didn't move an inch! See pics in album Go with PA lift it gives every needed to do lift!

PA body lifts gives you the brackets to lift both bumpers. You can't use back bumper to tow anymore! I just ordered mine online I think it took 1 1/2 weeks to get here!

You will need trailer hitch put on if you don't already have one? Plus if your truck is manual you need to order extension kit #3700 its the only thing thats not in lift kit! If you goggle PA lifts on their web site it gives you install instructions, you can check it out before you buy the kit!

Just got done doing one a few weeks ago... they are time consuming but safe.

My truck has had a body lift for almost 2 years now, no issues what so ever. I offroad mine pretty hard aswell.

As far as the manual shifter is concerned, if you have a manual transmission its up yto you either you can leave it and the shifter would be 3" lower, it doesnt hurt anything at all, still will shift though all gears effortlessly

tires will look fine but i would recommend stepping up to a 35 when those wear out

3" Performance Accessories is the only body lift id ever buy

Ya if your gunna do it make sure you put it on yourself otherwise you might as well go all the way with a suspension lift. I was going to get a body lift on mine but decided not to.

i do currently have a trailer hitch so i will be able to tow immediately following the lift correct? this is kind of important cause i tow a boat at least every two weeks

and know that i am more knowledgeable i am not to concerned with safety/performance of them but i will definitely be getting a PA

Ya he jus means you cant use the ball mount on the bumber to tow anymore, if you have a frame mounted hitch you can use that jus like you did before.
