5100 shock question

05 2wd supercrew w 60k stock suspension

Getting a little wheel shudder here and there depending on the road surface.

Looking at the Bilstein HD's and 5100's.

Aggressively street driven no off-road.

I see BE5-C301-H0 listed for 5100's on the rear (some places listed as 0-2 lift, some places listed 0-1)

BUT

I see BE5-C300-H0 AND BE5-C300-H1 listed for the front (0-2 lift). On two different Bilstein brochures, one lists one, one lists the other. Same as far as online vendors-I see both available for sale...

So, do I want the 5100's and what gives with the different #'s for the front?

The last digit is usually (not always but probably 90% of the time) just an indication of a minor change between production runs. When Bilstein changes something minor on the shock to make it less expensive to manufacture or more durable, they'll change the last number. Most of the time the different generations of shocks have the same valving and can be safely used together. If you see C300-H0 for sale, it means that either the retailer is a little bit slow in updating their web site or they have some older stock.

Thanks for the info.

Might end up doing the HD's instead of the 5100's. Am seeing the same thing (last digit/number change) on the HD's too!

My wheel/tire weight is not likely to change. Am getting the idea that the 5100s deal better with bigger wheels/tires...
