Leveling Kit Suggestion Needed (Updated w/ Pics)

I'm looking to do a 1.5-2 inch leveling kit lift for my 2001 F-150 2WD Truck.

I'm looking at what specific brand and kind is suggested and even better would be of specific websites to order it from as well.

Just looking to make the truck a tad more appealing from the curb to hold me off on purchasing a truck sooner than I really want.

Also, i'm needing to then put new tires on so if I put the 1.5 front end leveling kit, what size tires do you guys think I can go up to without pushing anything. Factory size is 275/60/17

TIA.

You have two options. 2" rough country or spring tech lift coils for around 100 or daystar 1.5" spacer for about 40 bucks.

If you you have the funds and don't mind a slightly rougher ride I'd do the coils and some new shocks. Then of your slightly nose high get a 2" rear block for the back.

If you go 2" and stay with stock wheels you should be ableto get 285/70/17 with minor rubbing at full lock or go with 265/70/17 (think that's the size ). Which are 33x11.50 and 32x11 respectively

If I went with the 2" rough country lift coils, is it necessary to get new shocks or it would just help with the ride?

Out of curiousity, how much would new shocks cost me?

Is there any downside to the coil spacers other than it might not be quite as high as the 2"?

Not really a must have but IMO they help especially if you have stock ones still. What engine do you have and how many miles.

There's no downside to the spacer just some don't get level from it if they have heavier engine (v8) and what not. I did when I did mine though.

New shocks can run from 50-100 For both depending on the brand.

Also reason i suggest new shocks is I broke one of mine with my 1.5" level spacer.

Suspension decompressed and then compressed too fast for the extended shock to respond

It's 5.4 V8 with about 136K. It is a secondary vehicle now that i use on weekends or what not. I don't put a whole lot of mileage on it. Use to be my father's vehicle... Been having it now for 2 years.

In that case I'd do the lift coils and get new shocks as well since they're probably still stock ones.

Hey Guys,

Wanted to come back and give you guys and update since I came here for help a few weeks ago and received good advice.

I went ahead and installed the rough country leveling kit for my truck. It was the bigger coils in the front and replaced all the shocks as well this weekend (with the help of my father n law... ). Everything went great and nothing went wrong. I replaced the brake pads as well since everything was off. A little time consuming but wasn't overly difficult.

Anyways, nothing to crazy or out of the ordinary but here's a few pics... I just wanted to do a couple things to help the appearances of the truck and this did just that. I'm about to purchase some new tires, and get a magnaflow exhaust put on and that's probably all I wanted to do. Just wanted to do a couple things to hold me off longer getting a new truck for a few more years.

Hey Jake,

Thanks for your help. I have another question. I am tire shopping right now and looking at the BFG KO's. My stock size tire is 275/60/17. BFG's closest size is 275/65/17 which i think will fit without a problem. Do you think I can/should go any bigger than that or stay with that size?

welcome.

where are you planning on getting the tires? i know sometimes (atleast once for me) discount mounted 2 tires and put them up front on my old truck to see how they fit before i went smaller.

id say go with the 275/70/17 (32x11) or you might just be able to fit a 285/70/17 (33x11.2) with some slight rubbing at full lock

That's what i'm going to do. Should maybe add another inch to the height of the truck as to what i have now. I'll be very happy with that.

hey i have the exact setup as you do. same springs and i put 2 in blocks because mine sat high in the front and my leaf springs were sagging. i have 285/75/16 which is roughly a 33 11.50. yes they do rub at full lock but i have just learned to not turn them that far.

i also want to know how your alignment is because i'm having alignment issues and you are the first one that has the same setup as me. if you could, would you take a pic of the front of your truck so i can see how well yours are aligned. mine are toeing in a tad and i'm about to get my tires rotated and then get another alignment.

I'll try to get a picture but when i had the tires put on and got the alignment, the tire guy said they did all the adjustments they could but it still toes just a tad bit. I hardly notice it though and really don't have an issue with it.
