Help! Hit 6" Pothole, right side!

Yesterday I hit a nice sized pothole with the truck going about 20-25 mph. Now I don't know if my steering or front end is messed up. I got really antzy and now I think that I've got a now I think my steering center is off -- like my steering wheel isn't center to drive down the road... it seems like it is a 1/4 to a 1/2 degree off. It's driving me nuts.

The truck seems to not want to wander off the road much... but I really can't tell.

Would a nice sized pothole cause my suspension to be screwed up on this size of a truck? I really felt it too.

Plus I'm rather worried about my new tires...

Should I get a wheel alignment this weekend?

I've never had a wheel alignment done to the truck since I purchased it new.

I really felt bad for not paying attention to the road, I was looking at some construction work...

i'ld do the alignment bro. if you hit a sustainable pothole it can alter your alignment enough to bump the camber off. tie rods could have slipped. it also could have pinched the bead on the rim and let some air out. all in all, enough bump can hurt.

better safe than sorry. if your feeling it already, eventually your tires will suffer. but check the air pressure first. its free.

I'll call the service shop ASAP in the morning and get it in Saturday.

I'm just paranoid... but I also just spend a good chunk on some nice, really nice, tires and I don't want them to be wasted on my part.

I did check the tires, and they are all spot on with equal pressure on all sides with plenty of pressure to be within spec.

I'd rather be safe than sorry... there's probably nothing wrong, but the fact of knowing completely is a much better feeling.

i dont blame you. tires arent cheap!

at least you ruled out the easy fix. i would do it anyway, you never know what could have bumped out of spec and slipped cause of the jualt it took. $1000 or more in tires is not worth the $90 in alignment. good luck

how do you know it was a 6" pothole... did you get out and measure it?

but nonetheless get your alignment checked.

many places offer a free alignment check, and will only charge you if it needs to be fixed.
