Question Shocks recommendations/questions

Hey guys, I am still pretty new to the forum, but I was wondering if anyone has replaced their shocks on their trucks. I am looking for a smooth ride, but still have the ability to get a little muddy when the oppurtunity arises. My truck right now does very well in the mud, but on the road it rides rough as hell and rattles my whole dash and console when i hit any bump or pothole. I bought this truck used, and I assume everything is stock. My truck has 70,000 miles on it and is a 2005 fx4 supercrew. Also do fx4's just naturally ride rougher....My friend has a lariat supercrew and it rides like a cadillac, do they use different shocks?

I would recommend the Rancho rs9000XLs... They do not level your truck but they are adjustable to the road and/or load you might be adapting to. They can be adjusted front to back or all the same... Here is a picture of mine...

Your ride can be as smooth as a babies bottom...

Yeah thats how I want it....I do not have to have a level truck, Im not putting super swampers or anything on. I just want my truck to ride nice. I guess the oem shocks are maybe just wore out. But does anybody know if there is a difference between a lariat and an fx4 shocks? Im just amazed at how much smoother the lariat is than mine.

+1 on the RL9000XL's I have been running a set since August and they are very nice. I set them on 6 when hunting on back roads and trails. I set them on 4 for the highway...Caddy-like ride. I know Bilsteins are very popular on this site, but I like being able to tailor my ride to the situation.
