4" lift Vs. 6" Lift

hey guys, i need help on deciding whether or not to get a 4" or a 6" lift. the only thing thats keeping me from the 6" is having to get 35's and having to re-gear. also i didnt know if the 6" had any less fuel economy than the 4". pretty much i need to see some fords with a 6" lift and some with a 4" lift with 33's. also any opinions to help my decision would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

if you are only gonna run 33's then just do a 2" leveling kit.

if you want to run a suspension lift run either Fabtech or BDS.

yeah most people run 35's with a 4in. lift and a 6in. also what engine do you have because most people do not regear until they get to 37+.

you can run 35s with just a level kit, and IMHO I think that 150s with level kits and 35s look pretty slick... and the ones with 33s look slick too, just don't sit as high. So here's what you're looking at: You can do the 4", that would look great! But to look proportional, you will want 35s. I had a 3" level kit and stock 275/55/20s and they looked really small (just fyi I had a teammate who ran the same level kit just with an add-a-leaf as well, and had 33x12.50r17 and my tires were the same height, if not a little taller) Our trucks... well most of them, come stock with 31" tires... you put a 33x1250 tire on there and you compare it to a stock truck, and you're clearance is not any more than a stock truck b/c the tires will be basically the same size (you're not really gonna gain an inch from going up from stock to 33" tires) You could do what I did and put a level kit and body lift on there or just a body lift and run 33's... I have yet to regear and Im running 35s... My truck gets around 13.5 mpg highway from 70+... I want to regear to 4.10 or 4.56 and put e-fans on. But I mean if you just want 33s... I think that you should put a level kit, aftermarket wheels, and 33s on... However... You have to consider this: you do have a supercrew (well based on your name anways) so, it will look pretty short if you just do a level kit... In which case I would reccomend you do the 4" but you're also paying more for the 4" unless you go with Rough Country, but I dont know how well that 4" kit is designed... I havent heard ANYTHING about it. I would def. consider it though. But still, 33's will look small with that lift. They won't look bad, but will looks small.

A lot of food for thought, but take it for what its worth... I feel you with gas mileage and regearing...

There is really no reason to run a 4-6" lift if you want 33's (assuming your truck is 4x4). 33's will fit fine with a 2" leveling kit.
If you are only planning on a 33, then I wouldn't go for a six inch lift. 35's will fit with either a 4 or 6 inch lift, just depends on what you want. And some 35s work with a 2" leveling kit.
If you have a 5.4L, 35s work alright with 3.73 gears, but I personally wouldn't run 35s with 3.55 gears.
