Thinking of lifting...Need advice

I have a 03 Screw XLT FX-4 and am looking to put a lift kit on it sometime in the near future. I have had 2 F-150's before this one (a 99' and 03' std cab) and both had lift kits on them already when I bought them.
My truck currently sits pretty high on the 285 75 16 i have right now but the tires will rub if I turn right real hard (not left not sure why) and i thought about installing a leveling kit but i know I will want to lift it sooner or later so why pay $300 or more when I will one day be replacing the leveling kit with a lift?
So, I have done some looking around and see that most rough country 6in lifts are gonna run right around $1k. Tough Country (not very familier with these) run around $1200 and Skyjacker (which is what the last 2 trucks I've owned have had) run dang near $2500.
Does this sound about right? I am wanting to run 35 inch tires so would 6inch be too much? Could I get by with 4inch lift? I will be changing out my gears to 4.11 or 4.56 for sure no questions asked.

Is Skyjacker worth the extra $1200? I would love to have about $2500-$3000 in and be done (lift, install and tires)
my truck currently:

thanks

I'm not very familiar on suspension lifts but I figured I would mention a body lift. You can get a 3" body lift for around $200 and you will be able to clear 35's all day and it looks great. You can install the body lift yourself with basic hand tools and it is fairly easy but there are alot of little things to do so you need time and patience. Check out Wandells album, he has the same exact truck as you with a 3" BL on 35's.

No offense to anyone on here but I will never install a body lift.
Its just not my style personally. To each his own.
But I will stay with suspension :-)
Thanks for the info though

well this is how I would do it.... buy a 2"AS level kit and level her out....if you want to fit 35's with ease a 6 inch kit will do it. I went with fabtech and paid 2k USD shipped and it was well worth it to me...I ended up buying a level kit on top of that and did a rize block in the back to get me to 8 inches...sold my 35/20 and went with 37/22...you will always want to go bigger so i'd say do the level and then shoot up to 6" kit, just my opinion

He has an 03. He doesn't need a leveling kit because his ride heigh is adjjustable via the amount of preload on the torsion bars. Most people agree that the best lifts for our trucks are the 6 inch Fabtech and 5 inch RCD followed by the 4 inch Rancho.

you can put whatever you want on your truck but ill tell you right now id rather leave my truck stock then put another rough country product on it. I ran their lifts awhile back on different trucks and broke many parts and hand nothing good to say about the customer service.
