Fabtech 6" lift swap
Fabtech 6" lift swap
Hey there, so I bought a fabtech 6" lift and 35" mud grapplers on 18"rockstar rims from a guy for 1500 dollars, but the catch is that I have to swap the lifts from his truck to mine. He has a 2004 F-150 4X4 and I have a 2005.
I'm just wondering if there is anything I should watch out for or if I should just go buy all new hardware or anything like that. If anyone has any idea as to how long this will take, i'm really curious....Also, should I change my gearing???
Thanks in advance!!

I wonder if the guy you bought this from realizes ther was a small amount of cutting done to fit the Fabtech? A section of the OEM X-member where the driverside lower control arm mounted had to be removed to fit the Fabtech X-member! If he's wanting your stock set up to take the Fab's place there will be some fabrication required! A direct swap and done is not possible with Fabtech lifts!
Not sure this is what you wanted to hear...?
As for hardware... shouldn't need to, but its hard to tell until you get the lift off and can see it!
I installed my Fab 6" in a weekend with help! Its not a hard job. Take your time and have fun with it!
Cheers and good luck

This is true... and a good idea! but some spot on measuring will need to be done and a good welder present, otherwise there will be some alignment issues should the welded on piece have the slightest difference from OEM! But this is very do-able!

Thanks a lot guys! I didnt realize there was any cutting happening. luckily im apprenticing to be a mechanic and my boss is letting me do this in his shop and my co-workers are going to be helping me, so what I lack in skills will be made up with them lol
The piece that is cut during installation is only part of the driverside lower control arm pocket that includes a bolted on crossmember. If you bolt the crossmember onto the driverside piece you cut off and then on the other end where it mounted on the passenger side it will line up and should make for an easy weld assuming the piece wasn't butchered in the cutting process.
