Lift for my 04 fx4

I just found out about this website today and created my membership today this site is pretty sweet ive always been lookin for a site like this for some help with my truck....Ive been wanting to lift my truck since I bought it 2 years ago but I was thinking about putting a 3" skyjacker lift on it and was wondering if that is a good idea or not I would go with a 6 inch but ive got people telling me that the higher you go things wear out fast. But if anyone could let me know of what to do i would appreciate it i need all the help i can get. Also is a banks monster exhaust system good to get?

The 3" kit is a strut kit and an add a leaf. I dont think this would be my first choice. Assuming it actually gives you 3" of lift that is going to be too much for your ball joints and cv joints, they will wear prematurely. I doubt it will go up 3" but even with that being said there are better products out there. I would get either a set of bilstein 5100 leveling shocks or an Autospring spacer (2.5") for the front and an add a leaf or taller block in the rear (depends how much you tow/haul). When people told you going higher will wear things out fast is not 100% true. If you go to larger tires and dont accommodate for the gear ratio changes then yes you are going to wear stuff out faster (there are more things to consider, but not going into that now). Going higher does start costing more and more $$$$ though. Another good place to start would be go with a 6" lift with some 35's. Doing that you can avoid regearing and you will not have to worry about destroying your truck.

I agree. I wouldn't go with the 3 inch Skyjacker. I'd go with a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit or go up to a 6 inch suspension lift.

Here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Auto-...item1e596464c3

This is the powder coated version, its about $10 more but you will not have to worry about rust, I say its worth it. Being you have an 04, I recommend the 2.5" for a level stance.

I bought the Skyjacker 3" before I found this website. So that means that I didn't do any research, and just did it because it sounded good. A few things about it, it rides great, I'd say better than stock. But I also replaced all 4 shocks with Nitro shocks. It does actully give 3 inches of lift, because when I went to pick it up, the shop owner told me it already had a leveling kit on it (2.5") and that he tossed it in the bed of the truck incase I wanted to sell it. And I noticed a big difference in height when he pulled it out of the shop. I also went with Terra Grapplers (don't remember the metric sizing, but I know it converts to 33.5x13.50x18) and they fit in there good, but now I want to go with 35's. Nothing really bad to say about it, but I also haven't driven my truck since June, and it was only on there for a month before I left for Iraq. So updates on cons later.
