will a lift affect the wheel backspace?
will rims i have now be good backspaceing if i get a lift
I just found out yesterday that i have 2 bent rims. So now im looking for new ones. Im staying with 17'' cause i just bought a new set of tires 2 months ago. I have a 07 2wd with a leveling kit on the front an running 265/70/17. The guy at the shop said i would have to go with like a 5.5 backspacing. In the summer i plan on lifting the truck body or suspension idk but will this backspace still work if i lift it. Can i go with a different backspace now because of the leveling kit?

FYI, the title of your thread and the question in your post are two different things...may get some better responses if you revised.
To answer the question in your title...No, backspacing is physically built into the wheel and nothing will change that.
Will a particular backspacing work with a certain lift? Need some guys with lifts and aftermarket wheels to jump in here and let you know what they're successfully using.

i think with a full suspension lift, depending on the kit, you need wheels with 5in of bs or less. a 5.5 is pretty much factory backspacing and wont clear everything once you get a full suspension lift. you could run them with a body lift though. most people use 4.5bs wheels or around that for suspension lifts.
