Suspension Lift ?'s

I have a 08 F150 Supercrew 4x4 that I am thinking of lifting 6" with a procomp suspension lift and have a couple of ?'s and concerns.

-Will the stock rear end gears support a 35 X 12.50 R20 without ******* the motor @ 75 mph?
-Will a 6" supension lift with a front end leveling kit be enough for 35"s?
-Should I have any concerns on the longevity of my trucks life by putting a lift with oversized tires?

Thanks in advance.

What gears do you have in the truck now? 3.73? If so, you'll be alright, some people like to swap out to 4.56's, but I'm running 35" tires (285/65/20 not quite as wide) with 3.73s and have no problems. I do have a custom 93 octane tune, so I'm making a little more power than stock which probably helps some.

Yes. I only have a 2.0" leveling kit on my truck and it clears fine. I couldn't go any wider than what I'm running with my current wheels though.

Not unless you abuse the crap out of it and don't maintain it. Just go with a trusted suspension company and you'll be fine.

Thanks Guys..Let me know if you know of any newer 35 x 12.50 r20s. I really want an aggressive tread tire but I want to stay away from Mud tires. Thanks!

Personally, I think the most aggressive looking all terrian tires are the Mickey Thompson ATZ (wide version), **** Cepek FC II and Pro Comp Xtreme AT.

check out the goodyear duratracs. just put em on my truck and theyre awesome. my budy has the micky thompson atz's on his f150 and they bogged up really fast in the mud, however looking at the tread design theyd probably last a little longer

i am running 35" pro-comp x-treme AT's on 20 12.50 rims, my truck has the stock 3.73 gears and the truck handles and tracks perfectly at 80mph, before the lift and tires i got about 16 or 17 highway and on this last trip with the new setup i was able to do a little better even up to 20mpg average at 70mph, but 80 was a bit of a gouge at between 14 and 16mpg haha but between the stop and go driving during the week and to regain some of the lost power i will be re-gearing to something lower

do not use a leveling kit and the pro comp. double stacking spacers is a big no-no. if you decide you want 8" of lift, go with either a bilstein adjustable to give you 7" or 8" or look into a set of coilovers. fabtech had blems a while back for $570 for both, you can adjust them up to 8". if you do go 8" id recommend a 37" tire, 35's will look small.

35's will fit, might have barely light rubbing when on a curb or occasionally in reverse but barely ever for the most part.

gearing is not a must, get a tune and it'll be as good as stock. 37+ tires gearing is highly recommended due to the stress added onto the transmission from heavy tires. if you do decide to re-gear 4.56 should put you close to stock. 4.88's will give you better low end and help city, but hurt highway mileage. if you know you will want 37's eventually go ahead with 4.88's. remember re-gearing you need to do front and rear or you will not be able to use your 4wd.

nitto has their new trail grappler, it looks pretty good but to new to know if their any good. pro comp xtreme terrain tires i think look agressive, but i am not a fan of their tires. bfg at's i had and they were great on road, offroad they weren't terrible for an AT.

Thanks for all your replies it's greatly appreciated!!! I will be going with 35's and I don't plan on going any bigger that 6'. I don't want to do any gear changes. I have heard mixed reviews on using a leveling kit with the lift. Why is it a big no-no? Thanks!

check out the new Dunlop Rover Maxx Traction. Comes in 325/60/20 (35x12.50). Aggressive tread design but great on the road. I hope so anyways, I just ordered up a set. They are very reasonably priced too.
