Few questions about body lift?

OK, I did a search and didnt come up with too clear of info...I just bought 285/75/16 GoodYear Wrangler Duratracs and they look kind of "stuffed" into my wheel well, since its a 4x2, so I'm thinking that a 3 inch body lift will do just the trick, but I got a few questions first.

How do you guys think the 285's would look with the lift?

What's ride quality like with a 3 inch PA body lift? Does it change much? I dont really care too much since the trucks old and its just gonna sit most of the time, but Im wondering.

I want to do it myself but I dont think I have the time to do it. Working alot of OT right now, so I called some local outfits and lowest I could get was 350 for labor, being as Ill be buying the kit for 178 off of Amazon. That decent for labor?

Would I need anything else suspension wise (wouldnt think so since its just lifting the body up) or would I need to make any sorts of adjustments after this?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Is your truck a 4x4? Assuming it is, I think those size tires will look great with a PA body lift. You could even fit 35's under that, but I'm not a fan of the stuffed look. I have a 6" suspension lift and running 285's with it. I think it looks great, although mine is 4x2, so I'm not sitting much higher then a 4x4 truck with a 3" body lift.

The PA body lift is a very reputable brand and has great reviews from members who have it on this site. It will not change the overall ride of your truck at all since you're not modifying any of the stock suspension components. If I were in your position, I'd pay the installer the $350 to install it for you and call it a day. You're working all that OT, so you can afford it. Then you can enjoy your time off admiring your newly lifted truck rather then scrapin' knuckles in your drive way working on it.

285's will look fine. I ran that size for years. The pic in my sig is with 285 BFG's.
Ride quality isn't affected by a body lift.
$350 for installation is a good price. They are not hard to install, but it's a time consuming, tedious job.
A body lift doesn't require any other mods, but I would suggest installing gap guards to cover up the gap in the wheelwells the body lift creates. Also, check out my gallary for pics of how I mounted GM towhooks on my truck (really cleans up the front end).
Here's a link to a pic.

Up/down motion is not affected by body lift but side/side motion will be amplified since you will be sitting farther from the point of pivot.

If you are saying the truck will be more top heavy, yes it will. Personally, I've never noticed this on any truck I've had with a body lift. The added height is offset by wider wheels usually.

When you are doing a suspension lift you are raising 100% of the trucks sprung weight. When you do a body lift you raise about 25%.

and as Wandell said, don't forget the gap guards!

How bad does it look without gap guards? You just see all the inner wheel well?

RIght. And you can add them later. Some people have even made their own. Gap Guards are just precut pieces of rubber.

In the front you see into the engine compartment. It's more than just cosmetic. They keep debris like small rocks, sand, and road kill from being thrown into the engine compartment and damaging stuff. And they are not made of rubber (at least not the ones from PA), they are urethane, which is better.

They are about $75 and easy to install. Money well spent IMHO.

Yea I can see where the cosmetic aspect comes into play. You can see right through your truck haha. BTW that truck looks damn good! Looks like ill order the PA 3 inch body lift later this week sometime, and keep you guys posted. Wife thinks she knows the woman who owns the truck shop and thinks she can get me a discount let's hope
