Aftermarket control arms are usually only needed if you lift the front over 2 inches using a spacer or lift springs. However, you may need adjustable camber bolts to get the alignment correct. I'd install them anyway since they are only about $40. You don't have to have new shocks either.

I have an 06 with a 2.5 inch AS level kit and AS 3 inch rear blocks.

I am very happy with it. And with a little triming and 3/16 inch wheel spacers I was able to clear 325/60/20's in my factory 20's!!

I do however still plan to do a lift kit down the road. Most likely the 4 inch Rancho kit. So I can still run my factory wheels. And so that rather then 6 inch the height of my bed won't be overly tall for when I am lifting things in and out etc... Which is offten with work.

I don't do much off roading either.

The 97-03 4x2's do not have coilover shocks, so Bilsteins or any other shock isn't gonna give you any different ride height. As long as you don't go with a coilspring spacer or lift coils that lift the front over 2 inches you will not have to have new upper control arms.

if i get a 2 inch spacer and a 3.5 inch spindle lift will i be able to run 315x75rx16s? or should i just go with a 6 inch kit???

also what size rear block would i need to get to level out the truck? would all the extra parts i need cost about as much as the rcd 6 inch kit off of ntw.com?

You could fit 315/75-16's (35x12.50) with a 2 inch spacer and 3.5 spindles, but it would be really tight and you would have to use the right wheel (like the OEM 16x7's or an aftermarket 16x8 with 4.5 inches of backspacing). Personally, I'd also add a 3 inch body lift if you want 35's. As for cost, go online and compare prices.

Most off road truck accessory shops should have lift spindles. I guess they are not as heavily advertised now because our body style truck has been outta production since 2003. They used to be very popular and advertised constanly. Also, be sure to ask how much any particular spindle will increase track width. Some increase it more than others. You can usuallly find good deals on Doestch spindles on EBay.
