Bilstein 5100s AND Camburg UCA

Just finished ordering a pair of Camburg UCA with the integrated 1" uniball joints AND a set of Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks.

Does anyone have that same or similar set-up??????? Any pics??? Do you like??

Currently i am running the 2.5" AS, stock suspension, and BFG 305/65/18s. I've had that set up for about 2 and a half years and 35,000 miles. After growing concerns for the extreme angles the AS 2.5 puts on the Upper ball joints and CV joints i decided i needed a change, not only for longevity but for safety. I would hate to break a ball joint while towing or towing off-road.

Going with the Bilstein's looks like i will be able to lower the front end by half inch, because they are adjustable. That will give the CV joints a little relief while still clearing the larger than stock tires.

Going with the Camburg UCA i should be more than okay with not only the geometry, but any force i can throw at them; i understand they are super strong.

ANYONE have a similar set-up????

I will post reviews once i get the install and alignment completed.

very similar to what I was looking at doing. I was looking at the Camburg and Kings coilovers as well as the rancho quicklift and bilstein 5100 adjustables with the camburg upper a-arms. Be sure to take photos of your setup and let us know how you like it! Sounds like a pretty sweet setup you're going with

I believe you are going to need new wheels for the upper controls arms, FYI.

why not just go with a full lift kit if your able to do the install yourself? wouldn't be to much more than what the camburgs and bilsteins are gonna cost you and it fixes your angles completely

but wouldnt i have to buy new shocks? so it probably be a little more? mines a 2wd so im debating on getting a lift or removing the 2" leveling kit i have and installing some coilovers. all i want is a better ride. and my uca's already tore the rubber boot so im going to have replace those for sure.

Trust me, something i have thought of many times over the years. My plan i to only keep my truck another 2 years. Camburg UCAs are 600, plus 150 a corner(fronts) for the bilsteins, still coming in under a grand. Now a "full lift kit" is much more, the lift, plus wheels and tires, what 4 to 6 grand???

Hopefully "brianjwilson" is wrong and i wont need new wheels with these UCA because that will ruin my plan of saving money. I have already had the truck 5 years (exactly) and i am not about to start dumping money into aftermarket parts for it. I just want to keep it on the road, functional, and able for 2 more years.

Just look at the Camburg website.

** Must use rims with no more than 5" backspacing **
** Some stock wheels will not fit **

Maybe you'll get lucky and it will work, but I really doubt it if you have bigger tires. I know with stock wheels and 35's I only have about 1/4" to 3/8" clearance between the tire and the upper balljoint, no way would I try to fit the camburgs up there I'm pretty sure they would rub. I would love to if I could though.

Geez Brian, you bring up a great point that i overlooked. I already have the UCA and just took them out and put them next to the stock uca and the ball joint is larger, thus it might not fit with the amount of backspacing that stock 18" wheel has. Albeit that my tires are slightly smaller than the ones you have, by maybe 1/4 to 3/8" in width. I have the BFG A/T 305/65/18's.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE BACKSPACING IS ON THE OEM 18" WHEELS???

I am going to stay optimistic that everything will fit and i will be sure to let share the results with you all.

5.5" backspacing on the stockers.
