need measurements from those running 35s on a 97-03

just asking for some measurements on members who are running 35s on their 97-03 f150s. i have an expedition and im trying to run 35s but i need to know how much lift i need to run them. can i get measurements from the top of your fender to your hubs? or even the ground to top of fender. please let me know if you have any rubbing or trimming that you had to do. thanks for your help

On a 97-02 4x4 Expy or F-150 you need at least a 3 inch body lift if you use aftermarket wheels. If you use the OEM wheels, a 35x12.50 will fit but they will rub the frame slightly at full steering lock.

my apologizes its a 2wd so im not sure how much lower it is than the 4x4. so im looking into a spindle lift along with spacers in the back. thats why im trying to figure out how high everyones fenders are from the ground so i can get the right cleareances. i also have the air ride system and dont have the money to convert. so ive been trying to figure out if i can run a body lift as well but ive posted in other places but idk anyone with any experience with that. im hoping with a 3.5 spindle kit and torsion keys, spacers for the airbags in the rear i will be able to run 35s as i already have the tires. still open for anyones measurments! thank you again for your help oh and the tires are toyo m/ts 12.5 wide and i will be getting 20 inch rockstars to fit

I didnt think 2wd's had torison bars? even if they did, you dont wanna replace the stock keys with aftermarket ones.

2wd usually sit a good inch to two inches lower then a 4wd.

If it's a 2wd it does not have keys and you will probaly need around 6in or more to fit 35's
and with 12.5 wide tires you will want more lift

The 4x2's sit 3 inchew lower than the 4x4's. To fit 35's you can combine 2 inch coilspring spacers with either a 3 inch body lift or 3 inch lift spindles. Personally, I'd combine all three for 8 inches of lift. THis will put your Expy at about the same height as a 4x4 with a 6 inch suspension lift and the torsion bars cranked up.

http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits..._pn=EXPLL-2000 these are the torsion keys from 4wp that are specifically for my application it says with the air ride. the 3.5 spindle kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03...Q5fAccessories something along these lines with the torsion lift gives me roughly 6 inches of lift. this is a 4x4 pic of what im looking for its a 2001 expo with 35s and a 3 inch body lift. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2391933 with what i have stated above theres no way i could run them? i believe the wheels im getting have 4 to 5 inches of backspacing. and for the back i can get spacers for the airbags. does anyone have any experience with a body lift on the air ride suspension on an expy?

THe 97-02 4x2 Expeditions do not have torsion bars. Only the 4x4's have torsion bar suspension. THe 4x2's have coilsprings.
Also, a body lift should not have any effect on your air ride rear suspension. Also, I don't thing anyone makes spacers for the airbags. I'm not sure if you could fabricate some. I think most people that lifted Expys with the rear airbags converted them over to the rear coilspring setup like standard Expys.

ok well thanks for your help, fabtech makes a spindle lift that comes with spacers for the airbags i just need to find something or make something like them. im most likely going for the body lift and spindle kit and possibly spacers for the coils which will give me roughly 6 to 8 inches of lift. thanks again

That sounds like a full suspension lift. Lift spindles are usually that, just lift spindles. Sounds like you found a complete 4x2 suspension lift that would probably include upper and/or lower control arms, new spindles and maybe new coilsprings and shocks.

So what your saying Wandell is this: On my 02 Screw, if i crank the torsion bars to level, and use my OEM 17" FX4 wheels, I will only rub slightly at full steering lock with 35X12.5s?

Thats freakin music to my ears.

what i was told when lifting my friends 01 2wd scab was anything more than an inch spacer requires a new control arm.
