Question 97-03 4x4 to coilover?

I currently have a 6" Fabtech lift on my 2000 Scab. I was thinking about cutting out my existing front shock towers and fabing up a thicker and taller set to allow for a longer front shock and something without a stem mount.

Then the more I thought about it I wondered if I could just remove the torsion bars all together and go to a coilover setup. Possible? Anyone done it? Pics?

Rockrawler Suspension used to sell lift kits for the Fords and Chevy's that was a coilover conversion.

I knew someone did back when the aftermarket support for our model was at it's peak but I'm not sure what was involved with it. Is it just as simple as pulling the T bars, welding in a taller shock tower and adding a correct length coilover?

I think it's a little more complicated. Remember, that shock tower is gonna support the entire weight of the vehicles front end.
